At the very top (the guys Haye plans on fighting) the division isn't weal at all. In fact it possibly has as good a top four guys (including Haye), as any division out there.
The main thing good about him is that he has the balls to go for it against both Klits. One(Wlad) that will surely work to his favor b/c Wlad shells up when attacked. But the other(Vitali) is too cool for that he does not have panic attacks and he will not shell up.
So basically he didnt look too smart tonite, but he didnt have to because he knew that he had his opponents number. Going off of your facts, I think Haye needs to be smarter & so does his corner when they fight someone more competitive. But also, I think Haye was thinking let me entertain & KO this guy in a good fashion so I can solidify a shot against one of the robot twins.
I think Haye was just anxious to try and get the KO and be exciting especially when you consider that his entire talk has been about how much more exciting he promised to be over the Klitshko brothers. I say he succeeded on that one.
Yes he looked a bit eager at times as we'd expect with Vitali ringside. He started off nicely in the first round with shorter punches rather than the looping ones. It was just once he hurt Barrett he started to get wild with them and lost his defence, but Barrett was really ****ing ugly and desperate too so things looked manic in there. The thing is Barrett was never any threat in there, so Haye could do what the hell he liked and not worry. So I don't judge anything either way. Haye did a good job, what we expected, but he needs to make adjustments I'm sure he knows that.
Good performance... but it was abit worrying how Barrett seemed to bully/push him a bit....and he's not even a clincher... I've only seen it once, but it did seem as though Barrett took him down with a punch though it looked like Haye went down mainly because he was off balance.... I also agree, he needed to stick his jab out a tad more...it was non-existant in the fight. Overall, i think he will bring a lot to the HW divis-ion whether he can beat the klit brothers....i seriously doubt..... hopefully he will put a few more pounds on by spring/summer 09 and he can be more competitive....
Agreed, but watching the fight you never felt Barrett was dangerous at all? I thought he looked able to trouble Haye and actually it looked like a pretty even/balanced matchup before the first knockdown in the 3rd. I felt that it was a legit test for Haye at HW. PS: What the hell is wrong with ESB at times? Multiple threads/posts and error messages? Damn it's irritating.
As objective as I Can be, Haye is a terrible defensive fighter. That style might be "gun-ho" and pleases the crowd, but against technically superior fighters who could punch, I think he'd be in deep waters. Defense is not just not a moto in boxing, but in any sport, soccer, football, basketball etc. Whether you like Hopkins, Floydd, Wright, and etc. majority of the elite fighter have great defensive skills. When you have lapses in your defense, and have a weak chin it will eventaually, as always does, gets exposed.
he can go all the way if he stays focased and keeps the weight low i am a haye fan and i admit i dont think his chin is very good, especialy against a fully fledged heavyweaught but he is too quick for these punks these guys have ruined the whole heavyweight scene by getting too fat or too bulky, haye is a breath of fresh air and his is going to clear out the division, as long as his does not get too sloppy he will not get caught by those slow heavyweights, and as for peter LOL good one, peter would not last 6 rounds, monte is a harder fight then peter because he is more mobile, haye would T off on peter with ease and blow him out we all know his chin is not great, but come on guys he BANGS HARD and FAST.
No, it just looked like two club fighters in there... almost as bad as Zellenoff vs Hartley. Both of those guys looked like bums, no skills, just winging wild ass shots.
