Getting into an all-time flyweights list is stretching the limits of my boxing knowledge beyond the breaking point...no doubt. :tired

We should make it a top 20... bring SW, JFW, and Fly together. More good fighters here than people know.

Too bad more of them didn't fight each other when they had the chance... who didn't want to see Lopez vs. Carbajal? 3 damn Lbs.!!! Honestly!

Myung Woo Yuh should have fought Gonzalez, Carbajal, or Lopez.

Yeh I rate the 3 of them fairly highly. I think they are all very decent operaters, infact you could also include Efren Torres, I think they are all on the same level.

    1 - Jimmy Wilde
    2 - Benny Lynch
    3 - Midget Wolgast
    4 - Pancho Villa
    5 - Pascuel Perez
    6 - Miguel Canto
    7 - Newsboy Brown
    8 - Franie Genaro
    9 - Fidel LaBarbara
    10-Masoa Ohba

    1. Miguel Canto - A dominant champion in the most competitive Flyweight divsion of all time IMO. He made 17 title defences (if my memory is good) against top class guys like Betulio Gonzalez, Shoji Oguma, Antonio Avelar & Martin Vargas. Very consistent champion. His reign IMO is the best in Flyweight history due to his longevity, quality of opponents and the depth of the division at the time. H2H in many aspects he is underrated IMO, I think he displays a top class skill set despite lacking power, he does show a brilliant all round skill set.

    2. Jimmy Wilde - A pretty much consensus pick for the top spot, not for me though. I have basically the same critisisms for him as I did for Pedrez. His ear wasnt the strongest and he lacked the quality wins and opposition. However he did rule his division well and was a dominant champion. I think him and Perez are interchangeable. Tancy Lee, Symonds and Zulu Kid are brilliant wins but overral his reign lacks that top quality experiance. H2H he is pretty highly rated due to his speed and power but he is terribly difficult to guage.

    3. Pascual Perez - He was a dominant champion in a good era. Defended his title about 15 times, despite not all of his defences being stated as title defences. IMO his era wasnt brilliant and thats where he is marked down. He did however reign supreme in the Flyweight division and established himself as the best of his time (at Flyweight). His lack of top quality opponents again mark him down but he does have solid wins like that over Shirai, Yonekura and Dai Dower. H2H I regard him as one of the best Flyweights of all time, he has a brilliantly rounded style that advantagesizes his lack of height and maxismises his strength and inside game aswell as he used his speed excellantly.

    4. Benny Lynch - Despite being at the top for a short time he was a very great champion. For the short spell he was Champion he was domiant but the thing that is most impressive his his opposition and excellant wins. His wins over Jackie Brown, Small Montana and Peter Kane are even more impressive due to the short time in which they were achieved. The fact he unified the division by beating Montana is impressive as he did prove himself to be the best of his era. Again his skill set is very impressive and his physical attributes could lead to him being classed as the 'best' Flyweight of all time.

Now I am very confident in my top 4 however, I will admit I do not know a lot about some of the remaining guys on the list so it would be unfair to comment on them in great detail. However this bottom portion of the list is entirely open to change and just a rough approximation by me.

    5. Pancho Villa
    6. Fighting Harada
    7. Midget Wolgast
    8. Frankie Genaro
    9. Pone Kingpetch
    10. Santos Lacier

:good Miguel Canto must be, not only part of any credible list, but considered for the top spot.

He made 14 successful title defenses, to Perez's 9, although during his reign Pascual collected some additional 21 non-title wins against only one loss.

As you say, the first five choices are fun and pretty clear, but the next 5 are fun...and a bit tangled up!

Lora, you think Espadas gets in?

I really like him but it might be a push to get in top 10 IMO

No, he's not top ten, but it had to be posted regardless.

His fight with Betulio Gonzalez is superb.
