If u were the promoter of Garcia and Matthysse, and you decided the potential super fight doesn't have enough hype, so you put together a double-header with both fighters this September... Who do you match each fighter with...

    For maximum effect:

    1. The opponent has to have a name without being too much of a threat
    2. The inevitable victory has to be spectacular, ergo the opponent has to be the perfect style to make each fighter look good
    What would you guys do?

Personally this fight has been built up enough with Garcia just about escaping Judah and Mathysse destroying Peterson, I think we all learned from Bob Arum that fights shouldnt be over marinated til one fighter gets beaten to the point where theres no return

Pacquiao/Mayweather - was held off so long due to drug testing and money issues that Pacquaio eventually ended up losing steam and got knocked out by the better fighter in Marquez

Gamboa/Lopez - Should have happened long before the Salido fight but Lopez lost twice to salido via KO and lost his last chance at redemption against Garcia

But if they were to have one more fight i guess this would be what i would like to see

Danny Garcia Vs Ajose Olusegun - Olusegun was originally Danny's mandatory but was pushed aside until he lost to Matthysse in a brave effort, if Garcia could stop him sooner or win more impressively (which would be a lot to ask) then that would make up for his poor performance against Zab Judah but dangerous due to Oluseguns solid chin and determination

Lucas Matthysse Vs Cesar Rene Cuenca - An undefeated Argentinian who was once rumoured to be fighting Juan Manuel Marquez, would be a good home coming for Lucas Matthysse and would build a lot of interest in Argentina considering Cuenca's record of 45-0 (2 NC) and holds the WBO Latino title however also a safe fight seeing as he has only stopped 2 of his opponents

These are great choices. Love Ajose being in the mix here.

They'd be main event quality fights on there own, but I'd like:
    -Garcia vs. Peterson
    -Matthysse vs. Judah II

Amir Khan is fighting Devon Alexander in December for the IBF Welterweight title and considering this fight needs to be made sooner rather than later this wouldnt be a good idea

Rios/Pacquiao/Marquez/Alvarado/Provodnikov are all Toprank fighters so no go there

who else does that leave who Matthysse/Garcia havent already beaten?

Peterson/Judah apparently dissolved for some reason but it would be interesting to see Garcia against Peterson and Matthysse attempting to avenge the controversial loss to Judah

In fact that wouldnt be a bad idea but id rather see Garcia/Matthysse with the winner going up in weight to challenge the winner of Khan/Alexander for the IBF strap and setting up a mega fight with Floyd Mayweather / Adrien Broner not to mention Marcos Maidana / Victor Ortiz / Josesito Lopez and Robert Guerrero would all be very good opponents

If Juan Manuel Marquez has any sense he should jump ships back to Golden Boy if he wishes to continue fighting and possibly set up a retirement payday with a rematch against Mayweather also

Didnt see this before the post i just wrote but I agree, although Peterson may want to take a confidence builder before stepping in with Garcia

I just feel Ajose was hard done by, he earned the right to challenge for the WBC belt when Morales was champ and then Garcia wouldnt even acknowledge him choosing to fight Morales in a needless rematch (much like Pacquiao did) and it would be good for him to get a bit of justice especially after that brave effort against Matthyse, if he hadnt have fought Matthysse he still would have been undefeated and should have been put in against Amir Khan when he fought back in the UK seeing as Ajose lives here.

In fact heres my proposal :

Lucas Matthysse Vs Danny Garcia - WBA/WBC Junior Welterweight title
Erislandy Lara Vs Austin Trout - WBC Interim Junior Middleweight title
Ajose Olusegun Vs Cesar rene Cuence - WBC Interim Junior Welterweight title
Chris Arreola Vs Kevin Johnson - NABO Heavyweight title

Now that is a card worth watching, I should be taking Schaefers job

Paterson and Ajose are too risky for Garcia... Peterson especially being a huge favorite

He'd be better off with Alvarado or someone like that
