Because of the **** he over came to become great in an era where most black people, let alone black athlete's, could become much more than a maid. O n July 4, 1910 in front of 22,000 people, Reno, Nevada, the ringside band played, "All coons look alike to me". The promoters incited the all-white crowd to chant "kill the ******".In the 15th round, after Jeffries had been knocked down twice for the first time in his career, his people called it quits to prevent Johnson from knocking him out.

The "Fight of the Century" earned Johnson $225,000 and silenced the critics, who had belittled Johnson's previous victory over Tommy Burns, claiming that Burns was a false champion since Jeffries had retired undefeated.

now you finally want to talk boxing, thats a start, but its best to use information from your own mind instead of just copying and paste.

Since you are new to boxing, know this about Jim Jefferies when he fought Johnson he was coming off a 6 year layoff and past his prime when Johnson was still in his.

Also Johnson lost badly to Jess Willard and if you knew even a hint about him, youd know he was a very crude fighter who had a huge size advantage over anyone, sort of like the same thing Johnson did with everyone he faced except when got in the ring with someone bigger than him.

I'm only new to this forum. JJ was my book report for Black History Month in 5th grade. Now that you sound like you have some sense we can actually converse. Yes he did fall to Willard. The question still remains of whether or not he took a dive to return to the states. Jeffries was also bigger than Jack. Not as new as you thought, huh.
