Not overall this is not only about heavyweights, who was the strongest pfp son of bit.... For you?
Probably the strongest guys were unknown men but between the famous guys who were the guys with the greatest physical strength? Please forget foreman, liston etc
Benny briscoe was a very strong guy for example

Bob Fitzsimmons has to rank fairly highly up there.

Khaosai Galaxy. For a guy just a shade over triple digits in weight, he was built like a freakin' tank.

Well apparently AJ can lift a van, so it'd have to be him.

I have no idea how to measure a boxer's strength accurately, yet alone how to compare it to that of other guys at other weight classes in other periods. It's way, way harder than punching power. The maulers and pressure fighters who have the most physical and aggressive styles are almost always going to seem stronger than back-foot fighters and guys who don't try to work inside.

Yeah, and I'd add that although there is obviously some loose correlation between strength and punching power, it seems safe to say they're clearly not coextensive. Some guys appear to be quite strong but don't hit that hard (eg. Ali, Carnera) some guys hit hard but tend to get manhandled in clinches (Tyson) and some guys appear to be very strong and hit very hard (Foreman, Lewis).

Yeah, there is probably a very weak correlation between strength and power at the professional level.

Seemed to me like Tyson mostly got handled in clinches through lack of effort and/or know-how.

Fitzsimmons aparently is a another skinny guy in the bunch but if you watch him closely he got thick bones in the arms thick wrists and probably he was the classic slim guy with few muscle but solid bones and great tendons strength.
Compare him with dempsey for example

We can perceive it all right but I think our perceptions of even boxing-specific strength are highly unreliable. Much of what people perceive as even boxing specific strength is really a function of other things, imo: fighting style, roughness, aggressiveness, inside punching and defensive skills, etc. A lot of the guys who've been listed in this thread mostly just make way more of an effort to apply rough pressure and throw their weight around.
