Lara, Martinez, Ponce De Leon, Mathysse, Funeka...any time a foreign fighter fights in HBO, he gets robbed a SD or MD or bs draw. Martinez even KOd Cintron and didnt get the win. The commentators may not have any influence, but I think the network/house does. HBO execs are to blame as much as the promoters.
Yeah, the tendency of Americans (I'm america.... live in Wisconsin) to say things like "oh, never fight in Germany.... they'll screw you over" is bull****. I've seen more bad decisions for foreign fighters in America than the tired line of "They'll Sven Ottke you over there"
Also Kotelnik, I think that was HBO too. It seems like every HBO card... I think its at least as bad as Germany and its even worse really because there are more viewers watching hbo so it hurts boxing more.
It has less to do with where a fighter is born, and who is represented by Al Hamon. I bet if they traced the bank accounts on those judges you'd find contributions from Hamon.
i agree actually and yes i do think hbo network has a lot of pull on the judgeing zbick is another example of a robbery there and i fcuking it when their hbo fighters get hit and the announcers pretend nothing has happened zbick was good example of this interesting this rarely gets mentioned but yes again they influence the judges
Those foreigners should be happy they are getting an HBO pay check to send money back to their villages.
I would disagree and say only hard core fans watch HBO fights unless its a big Fight(Mayweather, Pacquaio). Ask anyone what they thought about the Lara-Williams decision and they'll be like "who?" People don't know these HBO fighters.
Yup. Calzaghe never won on HBO they completely robbed him vs Hopkins. Or Barrera getting jobbed in his first fight vs Juarez. Also Humberto Soto too vs Juarez. Cant forget Hatton getting completely ripped off vs Collazo. Dont blame HBO blame the judges. Every tv network has there fair shares of robberies and I'm sure most of the time its the away fighter getting jobbed.
I'm pretty sure the Martinez-Cintron fight was on ESPN. Eitherway it's not just on HBO, it happens all of the time every where in different parts of the world at all different levels.
A very wise man named Randall "Tex" Cobb once told me this: "Big money ALWAYS takes an angle on small money." HBO is big money.
Its not just HBO, but it seems to happen more in HBO. Of course some of the blame lies with them. They are the ones airing it. Its their house.
Wow! You should be sent to Afghanistan and let those suicide bombers hug you and blow you up to pieces atsch
