Balance, stance, transfer of power. Punching from the floor up.

Unusual natural strength, decent speed, heavy hands and great size in his first career in his comeback he was slower and more controlled he actually had to learn to strategize and setup his KO's at times

The topic pf punching power has been studied practically to death, there are too many variables involved....the man who can prove an absolute in the topic pf punching power especially if it is teachable is a wealthy man....physics has an absolute formula but it is not meant for the sheer amount of variables involved with two humans each making decisions, fighting psychology, fears etc...and different body types with different body types, lifestyles, strengths, etc....The Russian national martial art Russi Boi teaches casting punches in which you essentially relax and make your hands heavy and throw punches kind of like a whip it works but it is relative to the individual again variables that are incalculable

I think guys like Foreman just have a physiological structure that is maximally advantageous for leverage. That is, once he learned the basics of punching he was all ready for boxing. It comes natural to him. As he gained weight he commensuratly gained torque. I could be wrong.

His ability to jar other fighters with arm punches was definitely a testament to his power and raw strength,

Foreman's punching technique and the power that he carried was unique to him. Tyson, Lewis, Wlad, even Dempsey probably wouldn't have been able to duplicate the way Foreman bullied and moved opponents with punches that didn't look to have much pivot or transfer of weight to them using his same technique.

It's like Mickey Mantle or Babe Ruth or Ken Griffey, Jr... (sorry Limeys, I don't know cricket)... Some folks,- a very, very few- are just blessed with a great swing.

Before one of his fights on the ‘Old George’ comeback trail, they showed him being gloved up on TV (HBO?). He had his arm extended and TWO guys were pulling the glove on, using everything they had, to stretch it over those massive hands. They overfilled the gloves to the point that you could see it was stretching the leather and padding underneath.

I think there’s more to his power than just this, but getting whacked with those fists was like being hit by a canned ham or a frozen chicken. Massive fists, all bone.

Exactly, even his arm punches would move people. I agree he's unique.

    Don Bradman, for cricket.

He's the biggest sports outlier I can think of.

His batting average was 99.94; in cricket anything at around a 50 average is excellent.

His ko of moore is downright comical. Hardly any snap or speed to it at all, almost looks like he was playing patty cake with his granddaughter. But Moore's bloody nose and shocked expression is proof of how brutal the punch was.

I dont think we'll ever know 100% how punching mechanics work.

It's a bit decieving but Foreman landed about 10 power punches in about 20-25 seconds.. including 4 in the last sequence

That wasn't by accident. Foreman could be very sneaky and draw you in. There was a guy on another forum who sparred him and said he'd often throw pitty pat punches on purpose to get you to relax. Teddy Atlas even told Moore that he was baiting him but Moore wouldnt listen and thought he was just a fat old sitting duck and went for the kill.

Either way, the shot that finally clipped him had very little speed or snap. Maybe it did have something to do with all the built up damage over the rounds and Moore failed to notice how hurt he was.
