I had Foreman in front, but I do remember thinking it was not that terrible a decision, and maybe Big George now knows how Schultz feels (who in turn found out how Akinwande felt after their first fight). Sometimes two wrongs do make a right!
8 to 4 over 12 rds---Foreman.......... Briggs got a gift from the three blind mice scoring the bout........ :fire MR.BILL
Don't have a score exactly, as I haven't seen the fight since 1997, but I can remember thinking George deserved the nod..
I didn't see this fight live. But a watched a somewhat crappy youtube posting and came out with Briggs by a point or something like that. Maybe it's because I was expecting a terrible robbery, when it was actually pretty close. (Not a fan of Foreman's style either.)
8-4 is neither a terrible robbery (in historical relative terms...there have been far worse, where shutouts were deserved but actually scored the other way :nut) nor is it pretty close. You must really dislike Big George if you had it for Briggs. :yep
117-111 Foreman. Terrible robbery, not only did Foreman win clearly but the official score were way off.Horrible decision. Foreman's post fight interview was class though.
Briggs joined the deathless roll of lineal champions since John L Sullivan. Nothing will change that however unfair the decision.
Boxing wanted Foreman out. They couldn't risk an old man to get hurt. They used him up and got a lot out of the old man's reign but pushed him to exile.
