There are some who say the Foreman-Chuvalo fight was stopped too early. Well, what if the fight had not been stopped at that point? What if it continued into the 4th?
Maybe it could have continued a little while longer, but not much. I believe the end result would still be the same. At least Chuvalo was able to fight for a couple more years.
There was a reason why Chuvalo was not fighting back. He was dominated. If you are not in position to know that your opponent has landed so many unanswered free shots then you deserve to be stopped. If you know what's going on fire back! Otherwise the referee is there to save you.
George Chuvalo analyses his opponents - Ali, Foreman amongst others: http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?t=502203
We would have been denied all the lucid , entertaining , interesting interviews ,and comments that he has made over the years .
Honestly Chuvalo has a great chin but I feel if they would've let the fight go much passed the point of the stoppage Foreman would've knocked him out for real or continued to beat Chuvalo to the point where no one could argue about the stoppage. Chuvalo wasn't a skilled enough boxer to deal with Foreman's onslaught.
Yes. Chuvalo tough as nails & entertaining, but he has the typical ego about & revisionist history serving it. Atcually things he deserved one Ali fight. George could have pounded him for several more rounds without becoming exhausted, but it is hard to see him needing more than one.
