Foreman from the Michael Moorer fight vs David Haye

Take the Foreman of the Morrison fight. Haye wouldn't do as well as Morrison.

Haye wasn't as good a fighter as Moorer in any department.

Moorer is probably the most underrated HW of the 1990's. Despite being a headcase and having a pretty padded record he was a very good fighter.

 

I think haye could stay away from him and beat him on points similar to the valuev fight

 

Watch Morrison-Foreman. Haye isn't capable of that, and Old George is not comparable to Valuev.

 

Ill try and watch Morrison-Foreman later today, George was slow when he came back that is the comparison I was trying to make, what do you think would happen?

 

Foreman would spark him. Slow? Yes. But extremely durable, and wily, he would set traps that Haye has never seen before. Hayes ultra negative style that he displayed against Valuev would not win him a decision here.

Haye just isn't very good. Wlad would struggle in the 90s (wouldn't be top 5 and that's being generous) Haye would be a nobody.

 

The Morrison comparison is the best I could muster: a vulnerable puncher (and a far better puncher than Haye) outmanoeuvring Big George.

Funnily enough, Foremans following fight was against Moorer. Completely outgunned, outfought, outmanouvered, and he managed to pull it out of his arse. And as Spearmint Rhino has said, Haye never displayed the skill or offensive variety Moorer (who wasn't all that) did.

Haye wouldn't have moved up to HW in any era other than this one.

That's not calling him a coward/ducker btw, he saw an opportunity and decided to take it, then got the cash out fight with Wlad. Looks like he might get another.

When your only wins at the weight are over Barrett, Valuev and Ruiz - all old men who'd seen better days.... it's a stretch to start rating him as anything other than a flash in the pan.

Put him in the 1990's and you'd favour this lot over him very strongly....

After the Enzo fight it seemed they stopped working on his technique and more on perfecting lines of smack talk.... his regression from around that time to the Wlad fight was shockingly bad. From a fluid puncher/boxer to an off balance, gunslinging mess that mainly fired blanks.

Moorer is an underrated fighter. Haye might try and potshot and run but even then its hard because that Foreman was taking everything and still coming. The old Foreman could make you fight. Even if you were battering him he would come forward, cut off the ring, put a jab in your face and make you fight. Heavyweight Haye wasn't very good at fighting.

 

This. Foremans jab is well underrated IMO (in either incarnation) it was hard, consistent, and kept you from setting a rhythm because of what might come of it.

Anyone here see Haye beating Stewart?

 

I'd fancy Haye to beat him as he is capable of sticking to a game plan unlike Moorer.
George has a punchers chance but he didn't even throw his big right too often in those days. The difference in speed would be enormous. I just don't see a guy with Hayes reactions getting tagged by one of GFs hayemakers. On the other hand, I could see Haye catching the judges eyes when he goes inside and scoring much like Shultz did. I don't think Haye needs to run all night to win this.

 

Problem with Stewart is that he could be so hot and cold. The guy that gave Foreman hell and Evander problems was also the one that got stopped so timidly by Tyson and knocked bandy by Jesse Ferguson.
