At least Big George didn't QUIT while he was sitting on his stool as the great Liston (as Champion)...did against the light hitting Cassius Clay in Miami in Feb.1964...and then taking a DIVE against Ali up in Maine in May 1965...
Why don't you give this **** a rest. All you do on this forum is repeat this same crap over and over. At least Liston had the balls to climb in a ring.....you haven't even got the courage to answer anyone's questions. You should be ashamed to even have Rocky in your name. If he were reading this, he would be embarrassed by you. What the **** is wrong with you. One day, when I can be bothered, I will trawl through every thread and count just how many times you have repeated yourself over the years. @JohnThomas1 please feel free to list all of the relevant nonsense again please buddy. Sorry for the rant guys but this idiot has been posting this same old bollocks since he has been here and needs calling out.
Sonny faced a superior version of Ali by a good margin. I doubt Ali would've had much fun. Laying on the ropes with Liston, Sonny wouldn't have been falling all over himself like an amateur.
Lol yeah. I thought so. I have 2 agree. That was one of the rare fights where a guy ran the whole time and still won handily. Dreadful decision. George couldn't even have kept the title w/ a draw. Too bad George didn't have an easy 1st title defense .
A prime Sonny Liston, 1958-1963 had stamina, he could punch, and could go 12 rounds if need be, he had a pole like left jab, he later taught George Foreman, he also had an instinctive killer instinct, he used to collect debts for the underworld, grew up in the tough streets of St. Louis, and spent time in the corrections system. George Foreman could also punch, he was as intimidating as his idol Sonny Liston. George grew up in the tough streets of Houston, Texas, and he was a Gold Medalist in the 1968 Olympic games as a heavyweight. They both had that stoic stare. A prime George was 6 ft, 4 inches tall, 217 lbs. Liston was 6 ft, 1 inches tall, weighed 218 lns. Liston had a long reach, 84 inches, and 14 inch fists, needed bigger gloves.
