"Foreman-Schulz" turned out to be a goodie on regular HBO in 1995... On paper, the fight appeared that it would suck, but the fight itself delivered the goods... I scored for Foreman by lousy round or so... Now what would've sucked would've been Foreman fighting Tony Tucker instead... I can picture Tucker holding and hitting Foreman while Foreman pushes, shoves and jabs back in a yawner affair... I'm glad that fight never occurred... MR.BILL
I dont think it would have changed at all. Moorer was getting put down in a lot of fights, and really he was expected to beat Foreman and he was quite easily. I think Moorer has always been pretty easy to evaluate as a fighter. He had good skills, but his footwork, chin and defense were never good enough to be a dominant heavyweight.
Moorer looked bored against Vaughn Bean and was 224 pounds with a thick girth for his '97 rematch with Holy... Moorer had talented, but was also lazy, a smack talker, a chowhound and a bit of an enigma from post 1994..... MR.BILL
Or Light Heavyweight. He was having trouble and looking less than stellar against trial horse competition at 175lbs. This isn't to say he wasn't a good fighter, I certainly give Moorer credit for being a success in two divisions, but if you don't have a particularly strong beard, you best be able to hide it with movement or a high guard. I like Moorer. Fun fighter to watch, and he seemed quite respectful of his opposition post-fight.
Moorer told me in Vegas back in 1994 the reason why he left Manny S. was because Manny was starving him and pushing for Moorer to unify the titles at 175... Moorer was happy and content with his WBO title there and wanted to go up and try heavyweight... According to Moorer, Manny S. balked and a feud began between the two, so Moorer went out to a diner and ordered the entire menu... Within a couple of months, Moorer went from 175 to over 230 pounds, never to return under 200 pounds ever again... The lightest Moorer ever got after spliting with Manny S. was the 214 pounds he weighed for Holy in 1994..... MR.BILL
Moorer is a strange dude, very well spoken, but he has a very short fuse. I was in the gym with him up in Tampa when he was training for his comeback fight post Foreman. He was still with Teddy, and he was abusing his sparring partners and talking **** the entire time he was in the gym. He was very bitter about getting knocked out and losing to Foreman. He lives in south Florida. I saw him at the bank last year and he looks pregnant, hes so fat. He hangs out with a friend of mine some times, and he told my buddy he had 10 mill in the bank when he retired and lost it all to a bum investment. He lives in a rented apartment now and hes broke. Dont call him Mike either, he'll put you in a choke hold.
Moorer is bitter that Foreman has never admitted that Moorer was kicking his ass hard..... Foreman has also said it was strategy and he was slowly working on Moorer's will and psych and was waiting for the right time to mug him... Foreman claims the KO was planned; not luck... Moorer thinks Foreman is a bullshitter... As does Teddy Atlas.... MR.BILL
