That was while he was still a 25 year old CW in 1987 though, before his head ballooned like that of Barry Bonds. Point taken though. I wonder what his true dimensions are. He looked huge in "Dancing with the Stars," according to my parents (and his dance partner said he weighed around 250 for the competition, which usually causes contestants to shed pounds copiously).

Pertaining to this thread, no, Tyson's defense in Tokyo was **** poor and not better than Holyfield's against Foreman.

What is there in Foreman to suggest he'd tie Tyson up? When has Foreman EVER tied anyone up like Bonecrusher did in his sad attempt at fighting Tyson?

    And Morrison beat Foreman.

Anyways, Alex Stewart made Foreman's face look like a hamburger fresh out of Foreman's grill...and did it by standing in front of old George and trading shots with him. Yep, the same Stewart who couldn't make it out of the first round against a wild and sloppy Mike Tyson.

Who has Foreman ever beat in his comeback that was on the level of Tyson? That myth is so ham handed and corn fed that it's beyond the realms of understanding! What a ****in hack Frank Lotierzo is:hi:

At no time in this thread have I said George would attempt to tie him up, just that he would shove Mike backwards. The reference to Bonecrusher was evidence that Foreman would likewise succeed in getting his hands on Tyson, then use his strength to push, rather than clinch like Smith did.
By adapting to George's pushing by demonstrating surprising mobility, circling, and at times even running right. (Foreman specialized in cutting off the ring on clockwise moving boxers, always taking that efficient step to the right, but Tommy exposed him somewhat with his contrary movement pattern.) Mike was a little too short to pull off this kind of tactic.

Seriously, Foreman KTFO of Cooney in Jan. 1990 on PPV for a purse parity deal of $1 million smackers each.... Foreman would not face Tyson in Feb., but he could've done it as early as March / April.............. I pick Foreman at that time cuz he was serious and smoking....... Poor Tyson was way *****-whipped in early 1990, but on fire later in Dec. for "Glass-Jaw" Stewart on HBO..

Alex is 6'3" with a reach of over 78 inches, making him big enough to be able to stand in front of George and connect successfully. That was in 1992, when Foreman was a little slower than he would have been for Tyson in Tokyo during 1990. Nonetheless, George did drop Stewart twice in round two. Alex was improving when he gave Foreman hell, as evidenced by subsequently going the 12 round limit in a rematch with Holyfield.
He wanted Tyson himself, and didn't get him. Why?

I'm not a fan of Lotierzo either, and have criticized him in past posts.

1.) Tyson fought for King on SHOWTIME.
2.) Foreman fought for Arum on HBO.
3.) Tyson wanted his title back and a rematch with Douglas.
4.) Holyfield defended against Foreman; Tyson faced a more dangerous opponent in Ruddock.
5.) King offered Foreman a lucrative offer that Foreman turned down.
6.) Tyson signed to fight Holyfield.
    7.) Prison.

I guess I fell off course a bit. Foreman's demolition of Cooney impressed me. And yes, I was clamoring for a Tyson-Foreman match more so than Tyson-Holyfield.

I can't believe anyone is writing old george off here.

When you lose to a man of douglas's talent level you can lose to a whole lot of men.

douglas's talent level was beating mccall, berbick and that williams dude he KOd who lost a SD to a good witherspoon and was getting the build up - all world level fighters fighting other world level fighters.

when was old george fighting that kind of level of fighter in 1990? He was always selective and never looked good over the distance (getting decisions he did not deserve mostly)- the best fighters old george knocked out were bert cooper and aldison rodriges but check the form and rating of them at that time.

Old george looked like hell on wheels against cooney, a part time celebrity fighter 0-2 against rated fighters in 8 years. Gerry would not get past mcall, berbick or that williams kid. The night Cooney beat Norton was a lifetime away.

Hahahahaha! Big george was out on his feet against the then light punching Holyfield...Holyfield noted has never been a huge puncher but back then when fighting against the likes of Bert Cooper, Larry holmes and George..altho he was more mobile he still punched like a blown up cruiser...and wasn't as phsyically strong as he became in later years. When I think of Holyfield rocking George on numerous occasion I picture Tyson in that position and feel that the crowd along with the ref and george's corner would be clamouring to stop the fight before there was serious damage done.

"Tyson-Foreman" should have occurred in June 1990 on TVKO instead of that cheesy double-header in which Foreman waxed Rodrigues and Tyson iced Tillman...... That event sucked hairy balls.....
