Torn meniscus is not an injury easy to come back from (it doesn't heal) -- 'specially with the kind of demands a constantly-moving boxer like Yuri needs to puts on it. Even with a long rest, Yuri can never have the same mobility. Without that, he's a light-hitting heavy bag.
Andrew Bynum from the L.A. Lakers must be a goddamn warrior then. He's played throughout the whole playoffs with a torn meniscus.
Bynum has to be a damn warrior, JH -- painkillers, or not -- to jump up 'n down on the hard wood with that injury. He's suckin'-it-up now, but he'll pay a fearful price when he gets older.
You simply can't expect to win a fight if you damaged your meniscus. Very ballsy dude. That's what happened to Tyson in the Danny Williams fight although maybe not many know about it.
At first I was thinking "Who the hell is this guy?"...After watching him box, and witnessing first hand how big a heart this guy actually has, i'm now thinking "When's his next fight?" This is what boxing is all about, brilliant performance.
hope he gets well soon and recovers 100%. Yuri's a good boxer but his style's an acquired taste to say the least.
