This is not a case of who is the greater fighter but that styles make fights. And we are making an allowance here for Tubbs arriving focussed and in as good shape as he was capable of being in. And remember, despite his appearance, Tubbs had good stamina.

I think the Peak Tubbs of '85, at 228-229lbs, who demonstrated great speed & boxing ability, could out-box the Foreman of '77 that Young upset.

I think he would have a chance to outbox any version of Foreman.

I do too, the style advantage for TNT is significant, but the Peak ('73 Frazier to '74 Ali) Foreman would have a high chance of catching him with a huge bomb & clubbing him out in the first half.

Tubbs would have a hard time with young Foreman. Old Foreman would get schooled.

I don't know if I'd compare Tubbs to Jimmy Young frankly.. For as good of a technician as Tubbs was, Young was better, and had a more proven chin - something that was questionable with Tony.. As for how Tubbs would do against an aged Foreman, it depends... Foreman's defense was pretty tight, and he could still whack along with cutting off the ring.. He was also still capable of knocking guys out with a one two combo as Moorer found out.. He also threw straiter punches.. Tubbs would have to be at his very best and not make any mistakes... Even then, his only chance is to take a decision, and I'm still not sold on him doing it.

I think Foreman is over-rated, both young and old. Sure, if you come at him or allow him to set up, you better get ready for a storm. But if you move and can box and tire him out, I think he's there for the taking... at any age.

Tubb's really isn't on the level of the Young that beat Foreman and hung around the upper tier of the late 70s. He's more on that Peralta fringe level, he's going to create some problems but he's just not going to get the job done conclusively. I think Foreman would eventually clip him with a hook, get him hurt and finish him off.

Tubbs would edge the old Foreman.Young Foreman, for all of Tony's ability, would catch him in the third round.

Talent-wise, I think Tubbs is above Young. Talented and skilled... just a damn drug addict, though.

That late 70's era he hung out in was pretty horrible.

tubbs was a good fighter and no pun intended but tubbs was a little tubby around the waist and he would not be able to withstand the brutal body shots that foreman would administer at will this fight ends with tubbs being able to continue because of being winded from hard core body shots 10th round stoppage:yep

That's a rather simplistic view of things. In 81 professional fights, how often did we see this happen and who was it against?
