Not me. All George. He'd shove Tubbs around and manhandle him. It would take Tony too long to reset himself in that pocket of his he liked to fight out of. While he's trying to reset himself after getting shoved or those jabs to the shoulders, those uppercuts and hooks are on the way. Bad matchup for Tubbs and I think this looks like the Norton fight with George muscling him to the area he wants him to be. And Tony's punches w/ no snap are not going to slow that scenario down.
Tubbs had that 'Norton' type chin... Tubbs could handle a shot from a boxer, but not a true slugger... Something tells me that Tubbs eats Foreman's leather at some point of the fight and gets parked... bbb MR.BILL:hat
Very interesting match up :good If we're talking prime george of 1973/74,then tubbs could quite easily take him the distance. Tony would n't return enough firepower to take the fight, though. Foreman by UD.
how is tubbs going to run from george when ali couldn't do it?he may run for his life a few rounds but george is going to corner him and knock him the **** out.ali sad no one cut the ring like george
This is very true, ticar. Yes,Tubbs would in all likelyhood get stopped, but it's possible he could eke it out till the end.
i don't see it,like i sad,ali realized that he couldn't keep george off him the whole fight, sooner or later tubbs is going to realize the same :nut
I am a huge Tubbs fan!! He is so slick and smooth especially for such a big man.. I watched Tony pretty much his entire career and he was super slick, as slick a heavyweight as I have seen, but Foreman is all wrong for him... George has heavy hands, very heavy hands and we all know that tubbs always struggled with punchers.. Tony is going to getting smashed somewhere in this fight and when he does Foreman ends it.. Tony is not hurting Foreman period end of story which means for Tony to win its going to the cards and I just can't see Tony going the entire fight and not getting clipped somewhere..
Norton was alright but with flaws and certainly not the most durable guy. Ali was garbage at this point, a human punching bag who the refs afforded every indulgence and whom the judges awarded **** decisions. Shavers and Lyle were perennial bridesmaids, guys who were not complete enough to be the very elite. And Foreman, well, he fell apart after Ali exposed him. It would take a 10 year hiatus to put that humpty dumpty back together.
Tony was slick and fast as greased lightning. I think he can stay away from the ponderous, plodding Foreman for 12 rounds, maybe even discourage him like Young did. First era George was not the most imaginative creature. He had one plan and when that didn't work he was vulnerable... albeit it was a pretty damn good plan...
Young, Morrison, Holyfield, Ali to a degree... George was coddled as a prospect and lined up with guys who liked to lay in the trenches when moved further along. There was a reason for that.
Well, I only have positive things to say about flawless, all around great models of consistency Page, Witherspoon, and Smith. Clearly a cut above Young's competition. :nut
Yeah if Tubbs can stay away and avoid the bomb he could make George look foolish I'm sure at times, I just can't see him being able to stay away all night.. But you never know, I would pay to see it..
