How much of a beating would they have let Cobb take until they stopped this?

It would probably resemble the Foreman-Chuvalo fight.

Don't know about that. Chuvalo would at times stop throwing back when under heavy fire, like when Foreman backed him into a corner and unloaded on him.

Not the same with Cobb from what I've seen.

I think the Foreman fight was the only time Chuvalo backed into a corner like that. He did against Frazier but it was because of a broken eye orbit. Other than that he always kept plodding forward, just like Cobb did.

Cobb has a good chance of wearing out Foreman and stopping him late from exhaustion.

Come on ... Foreman would have stopped him in about four ... I agree, similar to Chuvalo ..

OK, that was totally argumentative... but Cobb was good at wearing guys out with his face as a target and Foreman was about to be good at wearing himself out against his foes. And frankly, by 73 Foreman fought a bunch of complete bums (was he the most protected hw ever?), a shot nobody with a chin, one very faded champion and that was it. Anyone who took Foreman into deep waters had a chance, it just hadn't been done by 73 because he had fought garbage.

A guy like Cobb would always have a decent chance, a la his performance vs. Shavers or Ali, Lyle or Young's vs. the exposed Foreman.

If you stood in front of Cobb and punched he might hit you but he was an amatuer as far as skill, he could take a hell of a wallop but easy to out box...Foreman was better quality, I think he would find Cobb with the jab and a few of those bombs but hopefully Foreman did not tire because Tex liked to rumble and took pride in getting hit solid....I still see a RSF in favor of George, Tex was too easy to hit and George had power bad combo despite Tex's Solid Chin

I usually favor the immovable object over the irresistible force. Foreman would not be able to intimidate Tex, or hurt him enough to induce retreat. Tex routinely absorbed and stood up to the hardest kicks in his martial arts training, inflicting a degree of impact and punishment Shavers and Foreman would have been unable to match with their fists.

This would pit heavy jab against heavy jab. George can box for a decision win if he's very smart in going about it. He has the better jab, better speed, better mobility, and needs to be patient in his execution. Foreman has the better chance to win a decision after a measured response to his opponent.

Should George try pounding Tex into submission quickly, Tex might play along to encourage Foreman's furious futility. The last few rounds would be a Cobb party, with Foreman as the tenderized pinata.

Foreman ko3. He'd land e3verything he threw and although Cobb has those great whiskers, he didn't absorb to the body all that well. I think this goes about like the Ledoux fight with Cobb getting hurt to the body and George closing the show with uppercuts. Foreman would shove him around and Cobb has zero punching power to slow a Foreman down even 1 iota.

Cobb was a bleeding punching bag. His best performance was his appearance in Raising Arizona. Foreman would have done a lot of damage to him.

This is a mismatch. Although Foreman had the tendency to gas late, this would be such a slow paced bout, that it really wouldn't matter. Cobb would take a helacious beating ( possibly the worst of his career ), and might even get stopped at some point.
