Foreman ran out of stamina for punching himself out. Lewis got Knocked the **** Out. Very very big difference.
No difference. Lewis under prepared and didn't acclimatize for a fight at altitude. He ran out of stamina and got caught.
He bouced off the ropes into a punch. Chin verus Rock's right hand - where does the stamina issue come in at? When the punch lands?
Lewis got KO'ed and there was no stamina issue. He got cocky and careless and paid for it. Rachman should have milked his win with a couple of defences and made some money....I don't know if there was an immediate rematch clause though.
Indeed there was!! And Rahman did try n go milk his lucky moment with a free voluntary defense. Lewis had to take him to court and force the agreed immediate rematch clause (with no voluntary defenses for Rahman), that was written into the voluntary defense Lewis made against Rahman. And fair enough really - clever guys those managing him...its not at all uncommon now when a fighter gives a voluntary defense to have the rematch clause. Its a fighters managments security blanket that they'll not get frozen out after giving someone a voluntary shot. I agree though that LL was overconfident and cocky and got caught. Marvin Hagler commented for SKY TV (UK) and said several times in several rounds that Lewis wasn't given Rahman respect as he unloaded several hard right hands that were sending out warning signs...to all apart from Lewis himself! It wasn't 1 shot out of the blue ala McCall 1...there were several big rights in that fight landing on Lewis chin. Still, it was cockyness/arrogance that was his undoing and what a difference we saw in the rematch when Lewis did train and take Rahman seriously!! And proof in the pudding was what did Rahman ever do since that fight that showed he was "that good"? Answers on a postcard please.
It's been a while and I forgot about he court issue. He had his fifteen minutes of fame though. Good post.
