If Dokes brought his A game and boxed Foreman, and if he didn't stand in front of him the whole fight, he could win. Many ifs'... but that was always the case with Dokes.

As good as Dokes was, he was never very powerful, and he didn't, at that time, have the strength to hold Big George off.He may win a couple of rounds, but George eventually catches up to him for the eighth round stoppage, punctuated with a couple of knockdown.

Dokes signs up for the fight and has a decent training camp. Upon fight week, it becomes apparent that Don King has directed an endless supply of complimentary hookers and cocaine to Dokes' hotel room. Dokes proceeds to get knocked out in two rounds.

    well at that time dokes
    seemed pretty clean

and i think his hand speed and decent power mixture would trouble foreman

i can see foreman being very swollen after the fight

The first solid shot George lands on Michael, he's going to feel it in more ways than one. That will affect him tremendously.

Good point, but if it has no power behind it, then it means nothing.Dokes, in his comeback, couldn't hurt a fly if it was top notch. And his speed then was nothing like his prime. He might get George's respect, but George is going to hurt him bad.

Dokes tendency to trade and stand in front of his opponent seals the deal. Foreman by KO in 4 or 5.

Michael Dokes was a competitive contender after his reincarnation in the late 80's. He was in better shape, drug free ( for a while anyway ), and working under new management. The only downside for him in facing a comeback Foreman around 1989 or 1990 however, is that Michael had abandoned a lot of his boxing approach to be more of a puncher, and this might spell destruction for Dokes who's chin was fair to average. Foreman's cross arm defense would force Dokes to take too many chances to land effectively and on top of everything else, he was constantly at mid range, which is where Foreman would have wanted him. Dokes might have had a few good rounds and even troubled George for a while, had they met in 89'. But I can't see this ending in any other way, but a KO or stoppage win for big George.

agreed that dokes didnt punch as well in his comeback as when in his prime

but his punches looks preety nice against holyfield

them prime vs prime would have been interesting as well

I think I like George here by KO...Dokes had fast hands and movement but he could be hit and George would walk in with the heavy jab and follow up...Dokes had moment of stillness and George nails him

Actually, Evander Holyfield commented after the fight that Dokes hit hard. He later said that Dokes probably hit him harder than did George Foreman because Dokes was so fast that he (Holyfield) couldn't always get his hands up fast enough to block punches, or something to that effect.
