I recently did threads on the top ten wins of George Foreman, and Larry Holmes. Below is the thread links and vote tally.

    Call it...whose is better?

    https://www.boxingforum24.com/threa...re-george-foremans-top-ten-wins.728980/page-3
    Joe Frazier 1-12
    Ken Norton-12
    Michael Moorer-12
    Ron Lyle-12
    George Chavulo-12
    Joe Frazier II-10
    Gerry Cooney-9
    Bert Cooper-9
    Alex Stewart-6
    Dwight Qawi-5
    Gregorio Peralta 1- 5

    https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/name-holmes-ten-best-wins.719448/
    Norton-5
    Witherspoon-5
    Shavers 2-5
    Cooney -5
    Berbick-5
    Leon Spinks-5
    Bonecrusher-4
    Mercer-4
    Shavers 1-4
    Weaver-4

Foreman for me. Holmes has more depth, but on the front end, George kills it, with the best win against Frazier, a younger version of Norton, Moorer, and Lyle, who is better than Shavers

Foreman has the best single win in regards to Frazier but then after his top 3 or 4 wins his record becomes so-so. Holmes doesn't have a win as good as Frazier but he has more depth to his resume.

I would say Holmes overall everyone on his top 10 wins was ranked in the top 10 half of Foreman’s top 10 wins were against unranked fighters.

Foreman of course has better wins. However...
Holmes has the 7 year championship reign, arguable beat Spinks in fight II, gave Holyfield a much tougher fight, and was pretty much undefeated in his prime up until Spinks. Foreman has losses to Ali, Young and controversial wins over Schultz etc.

    Holmes for me.
Just more depth after Foreman gets the top win with Frazier.

Even after Foreman’s win over Frazier, his next two best wins are far greater than any of Holmes’.

Holmes, because George has absolute garbage on the bottom part of his top 10.

How many top ten ranked guys did either beat? Has this calculation been done before?

Foreman easily outstrips Holmes in the top half and Holmes gains some ground back in the bottom. Foreman's a little ahead for me based on the top end. Frazier and the decimation of an actual peak version of Norton stand pout strongly.

Depends what you’re looking for and how you rate guys like Norton or Lyle? Are they any better than guys like Witherspoon, Cooney and Weaver? Not really neither was Moorer IMO I’d pick Weaver, Cooney and Witherspoon to best them… then when you look at the bottom 5 Foreman wins? When you look at it, it’s pretty much “meh” Holmes even has the better comeback win against Mercer who was exactly the type of fighter GF was avoiding GF’s resume is based on how much you think Frazier had left and Moorer because GF was old and MM had the belt.
