Functional boxing strength is very handy. Functional boxing strength isn't Bruce smith strength or whatever his name was.
In fairness, who's to say that Ali couldn't have shoved Frazier around like that too, if he'd decided to do so? Most boxers don't really work on resisting blatantly illegal two-handed shoves as part of their training.
It's functional boxing strength. Top flight experienced boxers are going to have it from, well, boxing. Some will have more than others just like various things in various walks of life. Good boxing technique, instinct and balance all come into it.
Ike is all speculation like Tony Ayala Jr. However its hard to forget Tua non effort with Lewis after feeling his power. Foreman ploughs through Tua and stops him mid rds.
I remember Holyfield also stating that in the 9th round Foreman hit him so hard he went back to his corner and asked if all of his teeth were knocked out...... do the math.
Waitasecond, I love George very much but Ali and Young backed him up and roughed him up. Watch the Young fight again...George was bumming.
No they didn't. In neither fight did they make him back up nor did they have him badly hurt. He was down from sheer exhaustion due to poor pacing, poor accuracy, and the outdoor heat. Swinging at air and missing half your punches can actually make you more tired than getting hit.
Ummm, Foreman obviously. His fans make him out to be stronger than Superman, He-Man, King Kong and the Incredible Invincible Undefeated Undisputed man combined! So Foreman beats both Tua and Ibeabuchi in the same night? Talk about being the most overrated heavyweight of all time!!
I think the supernatural George thing was earned, partly due to his having knocked people down and out with punches that often looked grazing. George was more than capable of just grazing an opponent with a big punch and ruining them...thus, super duper. For fun, you could call Larry "Jab Man", Frazier "Captain Hook" (uhhh, or not), and Tyson "The Big Meanie". Sorry, you might find this hard to believe but I found that corny crap I wrote above to be hilarious BWA!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lyle did 1000 push ups a day so he is strong? That's more of a endurance thing. And high school level of how strong you are. So Ike may beat Foreman IMO by being stronger or as strong as Foreman, neglecting one of Foreman's biggest advantages over his opponents, having better stamina, defense, and a great chin as he showed in the Tua fight. I see two scenarios - first one is a slugfest like Foreman vs Lyle, mid rounds KO that could go either way. Second scenario is Ike stops Foreman in the later rounds due to his superior stamina and Foreman's bad pacing.
