Foreman vs Liston

Great matchup.

For me, it is too close. So, I chickened out and called it a draw

Foreman in flim seems better in offense, with faster hands and feet. But Liston seems to have superior technical skills, with better defense and superior stamina.

My impression is that, at the beginning, Foreman has the upper hand, however, the longer the fight lasts, the more Sonny's options improve.

But again, it is a very close call

 

I heard that these two were once sparring partners. I'd love to see that footage.

I'd favor Foreman in this one, although Big George has said that no one ever hit him as hard as Sonny.

 

Foreman is always saying different people hit the hardest.
Foreman wins this by stoppage. Liston is not stopping Foreman.

 

Liston by Mid Round Kayo, alot more one sided than people are led to believe. Liston was much better all around than foreman

 

Agreed, Foreman was wide open for straight shots. Any technical boxer with a good chin who is not intimidated will give him trouble, although his tremendous strength and power can bail him out against many opponents. But i think Liston would keep going and by the 5th, a tired Foreman will by on the receiving and of more and more right hands until he's stopped. Given Foreman's power, i would never count him out, though.

 

Neither man was terribly well accustomed to fighters who stood up to them, and didn't like it when one man eventually did, ( same guy basically. ) Anyway, its a pick 'em fight. I don't know for sure who wins, but I can't see this lasting longer than maybe 6 or 7 rounds, and even that's being ambitious.

 

i rate liston as the better h2h fighter and i think he has more going for him than foreman but as much as i like liston, i think style wise foreman takes this one via ko.

Yeah, I remember he once said he was scared to death of Ken Norton, and he was thankful he just "got lucky" to pull out that one.

 

I always got the idea he was just saying that about Norton to be nice more than anything, well that's what i get from watching the interviews personally, it's like it's a cross between that and making his win come across as a really good one, which it was anyway (calling him a great human specimen and all that).

Because let's have it right, if Foreman wanted to he could just say the fight was a doddle and Norton shouldn't have been in the same ring as him.
