Liston by late stoppage for me. Sonny had better skills, and comparable power . The only area Foreman has an edge is in footwork ,Sonny did not cut off the ring while George was adept at it, but this would not be a factor because no one would be dancing here.
crazy match up.their about equal as far strength and power, liston is a better technician.that should give him an edge here, but if this fight turns into a wild slugfest, anything can happen.
Sonny Liston was boxed well behind a mighty jab with a good high guard and was much quicker on his feet and was a far more correct boxer who used boxing technique and was a much better one punch finisher because his delivery was better - Foreman although massively strong with huge punches was an awful boxer with amateurish technique and often had to fall back on pushing opponents away to a lot - he wouldn't be able to do that with Sonny and wouldn't be able to physically dominate so would be vunetable - plus Liston's jab was far superior - Liston would drop and stop Foreman eventually Foreman would unload in desperation but Liston would be more pinpoint with his punchers and would also be able to match Foremans bullish strength Liston ko inside 8 rounds
Hard choice .... Initially, my vote was for George; but after checking some footage I am not so sure :think At this point, I am leaning 50/50 In any case, one thing is for sure: that would have been a fight for the ages!!!
Met Sonny as a kid when he was training for the Cassius Clay rematch around November of 1964 in Plymouth Mass....I was 9 and was HUGE...nice man...shook his hand...Sonny by KO
