Re Wilder, well we will never know. If i guess im 95% sure Wilder beats Lyle Im 70% sure he beats Foreman.
What a fight. Forgot how brutal this was. As good a war of monster punchers you'll ever see. Tough as hell both of them !
One of my all-time favs. George's interview after with Cosell was classic too. "Heart of a Lion" among his babblings
Wilder was getting thoroughly outboxed by a soccer hooligan and failed football player before his power bailed him out. The guy is genuinely terrible.
Watch the fight in the first post. Forget who he fought, just go and watch that. Then go and watch as many wilder fights you can, and learn !
Just like Hagler vs Hearns which all opening 1st rounds wars are compared against this this unforgettable HW slugfest will always be used as a comparison for HW wars. A Battle for the Ages.
I'm not going to rate Wilder above anyone in a historical sense until he's tested. Fighting guys like Arreola, Washington, Szpilka, and Duhaupas aren't going to cut it. Lyle had great boxing ability and a punch that cracked many chins of great punchers. He went toe to toe with Foreman and Shavers unarguably two of the hardest punchers in the last 50 years maybe even of all time. Wilder would get out gunned at this point, simple as that. Btw nice vid Rummy, your commentary keeps the vids entertaining.
