This one is almost used like Prime Muhammad Ali, 1964-1967 vs Prime Mike Tyson, 1986-1989. It is like trying to change the obvious outcome. No disrespect intended to anyone, but I am sure that there could be other dream matches made, there are a lot of Hall Of Famers out there to compare. We have a lot of great posters out there, it would be interesting to see new matches made, looking forward to it. But just to comment, Prime George Foreman, 1973, did have stamina issues, he took out defending champion, Joe Frazier early, TKO 2, on January 22 1973, and most importantly Ken Norton TKO 2, on March 26 1974, in Caracas, Venezuela. Later his stamina issues were evident against Muhammad Ali in Zaire, on Oct 1 1974, and Jimmy Young, on March 17 1977, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. George would have to take out Rocky Marciano out early, as he did to Frazier, because the longer it goes, it favors Marciano, who has plenty of stamina and tenacity, as seen in his previous title fights.
Rocky had the capability of knocking Foreman down, but I don't see anything beyond that except his heart and guts (which are of course always a major factor). I see Rocky shaking George up with the right hand a few times in a great fight. But I also see him going down numerous times in the first four rounds and jumping back up ready to fight until the last one, which is when he stands up with his eyes really glazed and nearly unseeing. The ref sees enough and waves it off.
28 year old George got beat and put on his ass off the ordinary Jimmy Young. Surely an ATG,any ATG, would stand a decent chance! All these dismissing Rocky out of hand don’t know boxing. Of course by all means have George wining that’s very probable. But to put Marciano in the same bracket as Jose Roman is laughable Rocky would be a good fight for anyone as are all ATGs
Yeah wheb hater said like you maybe! Ali vs Foreman and Foreman vs Young is one side beating! Ali had great tactic!Chop Foreman with right and not stopping throwing punches! Just like Lyle did but also had stamina flaws! Marciano cliped Foreman with right from the beggining and not stop till the and!Sure Foreman will drop him but in the end Foreman stamina flaws would started to show!
I think people are possibly underrating Marciano here. The guy cleaned out a division. Was never knocked out. and he was never at any stage called Joe Frazier.
He's in my top 6 ATGs, very great fighter with possibly a bigger heart than even a couple of guys above him.
Wow, you are obviously a Huge fan of Rocky. Getting up from Walcott and Archie Moore is not the same as being hit multiple times by big GEORGE. Aint no 5'10 185-190lb boxer with short arms will be able to "withstand" that kind of fire power. George was also very adept at using his big arms to push smaller and less strong fighters away, which puts them right in position for his big right hand. Imagine how Rocky will look, coming forward and running into one of Formanes upper cuts. I'll tell you, HEADLESS.
