Yeah I'm going there. The 40-0 monster that faced Ali versus whatever version of Wladimir you feel is the most formidable maybe the one that faced Chagaev, Austin, Haye, whatever. Peak for Peak. I believe as formidable as Wlad is he is simply no match for George. Wlad folds mentally under pressure, and George had a formidable jab of his own, the chin, the physical strength and the punching power to walk Wlad down and obliterate him. Wlad has power indeed but Foreman's speed and accuracy is underrated and his awkward angle shots and sheer will turn Wlad into a piece of meat struggling to survive. As for Wlad being bigger, Foreman is 2 inches shorter, 20 pounds lighter and has a one inch reach advantage. For what its worth I see old Foreman stopping Wladimir as well. Anyway Foreman vs Wlad, again, 15 rounds, yeah right. Thoughts and predictions. Foreman KO2, not TKO KO2.:tired
If you posted this on the general forum, I'm sure a large number of ******s would pick Wlad. Since this is the classic section, hopefully everybody knows better. Foreman wastes Wlad, quickly.
If Wlad can't manhandle Foreman then he's in a world of trouble, if Foreman goes in for the kill then I think it would be over quick. If he tries to be smart and box Wlad then Wlad would settle down to his game plan and win IMO.
Foreman of course has the chance to end things early, but I think a conservative boxing Wlad is too smart to come forward and patient enough to wear down and KO George, who was a bit of a front runner and didn't show the ring IQ or adaptability to adjust if plan A didn't work. Granted, it usually did. Foreman catching Wlad early has a decent chance of happening, but if they fought 10 times, I'd bet on the bigger, more skilled, more precise power puncher to win the majority of them.
Wlad is a nightmare matchup for Foreman. This isn't little Joe Frazier he can toss around and beat up on the outside. Foreman didnt deal well with the tall technical boxer with reach who could jab and move. He also relied on being the bigger man in the ring and throwing his weight around. Young exposed Foreman's weaknesses for getting picked apart at range and Young is a poor mans Wlad. Wlad would cautiously weather the early storm and for the first time in Foremans career he's fighting a guy stronger than him who would out muscle him in clinches. Wlad is also much smarter in the ring than young Foreman and like Ali would gass him out. Ali did it with the rope a dope and Wlad would do it with the Kronk back of the neck weight crush. I hate to say it but Wlad takes this by lopsided UD or stops Foreman late if he becomes as fatigued like he did in later rounds against Ali or Young. :bbb
haha big target with fragile glass chin vs sturdy chin and top 2 puncher of all time.. very hard to pick
Young a poor man's Wlad? Young had an iron chin, Wlad's is cardboard. Wlad is not stronger than Foreman. George would shove Wlad off and outjab him as well.
I respect your opinion but Foreman weighed about 224-230 with no weight training in many of these fights, so I can't see how it be can rationalized that he would shove 6-7 250 weight trained strong Wlad around. If anybody is doing the mugging it's Wlad. Foreman's jab was lethal in his return in the 90's but it wasn't nearly as consistent and deadly in the 70s, Wlad would win the jab battle. Foreman's best shot is to go guns blazing in the early going and try to breach Wlad defences and KO him before he fatigues. A small possibly but one I see ending in Foreman getting taken to school.
I really like Wlad and think he doesn't get the respect he deserves because of how weak and unbalanced the HW division is in all of boxing but he has nothing to rely on to soundly beat a prime Foreman. He does not have the chin to do a rope-a-dope. He does not have the speed to break away from an aggressive Foreman and his solid defense is offset by Foreman's juggernaut power shots that will undoubtedly rattle Wlad's will and confidence before rattling his brain to a vicious KO. George Foreman. I just don't see how in any way shape or form Wlad would pull out any kind of victory outside of a blatant DQ. There are no secrets to boxing from the 1970's to the 2010 that would give Vlad the advantage, except advance cardio techniques and exercises. As far as skill, power, durability, heart -- George is right near the top of the list of the all-time great boxers. His chin can handle a barrage of power punches from the best of them, Wlad cannot does not have the speed or footwork to outmaneuver George for 5 rounds straight let alone 12 rounds.
