And thats what is worth two cents.. The ropes were actually tightened up by Dundee and Bobby Goodman acting for the promotion they did this by cutting them with a razor blade and rethreading them. Why was Kinshasa anymore favourable to Ali than Foreman? Foreman has since admitted the only thing that drugged was Ali's fists . You aren't related to Hans Chrisitan Anderson are you?
Against Ali he looked spent by round 6, against Peralta he was still moving pretty well and looking quite sharp at that stage. He looked very tired in the 10th but he threw plenty of leather. Of course Ali was probably the major factor in the difference.
Difference is it was Ali hitting George with powerful right hands from the very first seconds of round one. Those punches along with Foremans high output start led to his relatively quick demise. His gas tank was empty with no way to recoup.
I don't know if George Foreman would have beaten Muhammad Ali if he fought like he did during his comeback. But I do feel that Foreman's fighting style during his comeback suited him much better than the one he had when he fought Ali. Foreman simply didn't have the stamina to sustain a high work rate like Joe Frazier. - Chuck Johnston
Does anyone think the outcome of the fight is the same if it is in Madison Square Garden in 70 degrees air condition versus the heat and humidity of Deepest Darkest Africa? I don't.....
Exactly my take on it - and aswell as those names mentioned that Ali faced in the said 4 year span -let not forget he'd also faced and beat Quarry twice, Bonavena, Mac foster who could hit, Chuvalo, Patterson and Foster and Norton Frazier he'd fought twice apiece! And that was in the space of the previous 4 year run up to facing Foreman - by comparison Foreman himself had during that period faced Chuvalo who he stopped in 2 and a bit rounds, and Frazier & Norton each of whom he stopped in 1 and a bit rounds - so he was sorely lacking in high calibre rounds
Foreman's problem was in his early career he had no idea how to pace himself ,because ,for the most part he did not need to. If he had a genuine stamina problem he would not have gone 12 rds with the heavyweight champion Holyfield at the age of 42 without sitting down .
Yes but he wasn't the one throwing the punches. How many more rounds could Ali have taken laying against the ropes against a Foreman that didn't gas out as early as he did because of the heat?
Foreman was going all out for the ko from the first round. No matter the heat he would ave gassed at that pace. Ali did not appear hurt at any time during their bout in 74.
While I agree that Foreman would have gassed it would not have been near as early. Ali knew what he was doing dragging Foreman over to Africa.
