Now I'm Not Saying He would Beat these guys... or even guarantee fights with these guys... all I amsaying is he could "potentially" fight these guys...

    - Shane Mosley
    - Miguel Cotto
    - Joshua Clottey
    - Sergiy Dzindiruk
    - James Kirkland
    - Alfredo Angulo
    - Kelly Pavlik
    - Andre Ward
    - Andre Dirrell
    - Carl Froch
    - Arthur Abraham
    - Jermain Taylor
    - Daniel Jacobs
    - Bernard Hopkins

If Paul Williams Skill Level Continues to grow and he continues to grow in size.... he could end up with one hell of a resume....

a true atg resume if you ask me

he could potentially fight some of them but could never acquire a cv of that extent hence the lack of thread interest

The sky's the limit for Mr. Williams. I'll continue to tune in for all of his fights.

To be fair, you can do this with just about anyone to the same tune.

I think Paul could beat a lot of those guys...just don't ever see half of those fights coming close to getting done. **** it's taken forever to get a friggin DATE for him vs Pavlik

To be honest, half of PW's abilities come from his size against WWs. He is able to use his abnormal physique, together with a sensational work rate and good power and durability to overwhelm his opponents. In the higher divisions, it's another story. PW is powerful, but he isn't that powerful. First of all, he seems to have taken to weight-hopping, and has even considered moving all the way up to 168 to fight Hopkins. For someone who still calls out WWs, that's pretty serious. But even if he puts on weight carefully and slowly, gradually progressing up through the weights and maintaining his conditioning and speed, it's unlikely he's going to have the natural power of a Kelly Pavlik at 160, or a Carl Froch or a Mikel Kessler at 168. Against those guys, he will be shorter and naturally weaker. Moreover, he's not going to be able to sustain the work rate he usually does against guys that are so much stronger; doing so would just bring war, and war against more powerful fighters isn't clever. So, really, I can't see PW moving up effectively through the divisions to take on the fighters you're talking about for potential match-ups - much less can I see him succeeding.

Where Paul's abilities lie are around 147-154. The only real big names around are at 147. But it's dubious whether he can make 147 anymore, and it's almost certain that no-one wants to fight him because he'd whoop them. What all this means is that Pdub has a Catch-22: the big fights he can win won't happen; the big fights that can happen, he probably can't. Unfortunately, I see Pdub getting KO'd by Pavlik and his potential at higher weight classes will be dismissed. He'll spend most of his career back down at 154, ruling the division for some time but probably never getting that golden legacy or massive payday. Paul Williams will be remembered as a forgotten champion, who never really cracked into the ATG level.

The above post isn't a piece of hate, by the way; I really do like PW as a fighter, even if his managers are a pile of ****. I just think he's going to be very unfortunate.

    Really solid post:deal

I love the Pavlik/williams fight, but one thing I do not like about it is that PW may not be quite the same fighter post-pavlik.
