I could see him MAYBE wanting to fight the Canelo/Cotto winner if it was for the lineal 160 belt, but since the winner will be stripped unless they fight GGG next that means.....

    Pacquiao.

If Mayweather only cared about the lineal title, then he would sti fight the Cotto/Canelo winner as you can't be stripped of a lineal title. Of course, I don't believe Floyd cares much about a lineal title. He beat Cotto and Canelo decisively. I doubt he has interest in either of them. I think he either retires in September, or rematches Pacquiao, or fights someone like Khan.

What do you mean you can't be stripped of the lineal title? That's what GGG promotions have been fighting for since Cotto's been avoiding him. They can't force Cotto in the ring even as his mandatory defense... so they'd have to have him stripped if he refuses to get in the ring with GGG. It'd have to be a necessary action or else Cotto holds it hostage and refuses to abide by WBC rules.

But I don't think it'll matter anyways. Canelo will beat Cotto, and then he will fight Golovkin in the spring. So, it's a mute point.

The lineal title isn't a physical belt. It's the man, who beats the man, who beats the man. So at MW, Hopkins became the undisputed champ when he unified the MW titles. He was the lineal champ. Taylor beat Hopkins, to become the lineal champ. Taylor was evnentualy stripped of one of his ABC titles, but he still remained the lineal champ as he beat the previous lineal champ. Pavlik then beat Taylor, and Martinez beat Pavlik. Cotto then beat Martinez. The lineage will continue with the winner of the Cotto/Canelo fight. The lineage doesn't go away because the alphabet title was stripped.

No rematches please. Guy is near 40 and shouldn't waste fights on rematches.

I would love a GGG fight at 154.

Khan, Thurman, Brook all reasonable and I would have no complaints.

If Andy Lee beats Saunders, I could see Floyd Mayweather fighting Lee for his middleweight belt.

That would put Floyd at 50-0 with titles from Super Featherweight to Middleweight, and he'd also have a win over the lineal Middleweight champ (since he's beaten both Cotto and Alvarez).

To go undefeated for 20 YEARS while winning titles in six divisions ... while beating a number of Hall of Famers along the way ... he'd be a lock for the Top 10 all-time list. Maybe Top Five. If he retired at 50-0 with a middleweight title, maybe NUMBER ONE all time.

I get what you're saying, but Cotto has the WBC MW title and that's what Golovkin wants. He's the interim.

Could Cotto not be stripped of his WBC title? I said I don't think Mayweather wouldn't want to fight Cotto/Canelo unless it was for that WBC title which the winner of Canelo/Cotto will be stripped of if they refuse to fight GGG next- per WBC and K2.

Cotto rematch if he beats Canelo or Golovkin. Only fights that make financial sense other than Khan.

The biggest fight for #50 would be the Cotto-Canelo winner, and your crazy if you think the WBC would strip the winner for fighting Mayweather over GGG.

You actually originally said that Mayweather would only want to fight the Cotto/Canelo winner of it were for the lineal title. If you meant the WBC title, then you would be 100% correct. I think Floyd would be more interested in the WBC title rather than the lineal title, and the winner of Cotto/Canelo is supposed to be stripped if they don't fight the Golovkin/Lemieux winner afterwards.
