steward is overrated anyways he's living of the reputation hes builded with kronk gym and thomas herns... but who has he taken to the top since? nobody all he does is take boxers already established and become their trainer.. that's why i dont like about boxing sometimes a boxer starts out with a trainer becomes world champion with that trainer and then leave him to get are more renown person.. is like felix trinidad sr. he was trainer for a loooooooooong time before tito came along and then after tito everybody in PR wanted to train with him and he was considered the best boxing trainer around, but he didnt change over night it was just that he was lucky enough to come a cross a prodigy thats all

I'm with you on this one, I think he is over-rated, ****, my gran could have been in Tommy Hearns corner and done just a good a job.

That's kind of what Cotto needs though. He doesn't need somebody to rebuild him, he needs somebody to fine tune him. Exactly what Manny Steward would do.

Well it was his seed that created said prodigy. I'd say he was an instrumental factor in Trinidad being a star

Miguel Diaz the famed cutman? I believe he and Cotto had a falling out of sorts.

I still think they should at least reach out to Rudy Perez. Even if it's just as a camp adviser or something of that magnitude.

I used Felix Trinidad Sr. just as an example on how a trainer is nobody until he has a big star and then becomes great over night in the eyes of many. Felix trinidad Sr. was the same trainer a good one but he didnt had a great boxer like his son before and nobody gave him a chance to train the top fighters. My trainer coming up was Chamelo from torres de sabana in carolina PR. I think he's one of the best boxing trainers around and he's been doing it for a long time he just doesnt has the name or fame as others do.
