im more excited about this fight than any other fighter that can be made in boxing. Casual boxing fans may not see this fight as a superfight, but I think it makes for a great fight and a landmark fight in the lower weights. i think it will bring out the best of both men. The only other fight that im very excited about is Gamboa-Lopez.
Donaire will toy with him. Montiel makes too many mistakes. He's a good puncher, but he doesn't have enough skill to compete with the Flash imo.
Swarmer-If it was the Montiel of 3-4 years ago I would agree with you, but he has improved a lot and he is the kind of fighter that finds a way to win. I favor Donaire, but Montiel has the experience and has been fighting very solid opposition for over a decade. I think its gonna be a great fight. I see Donaire using his abilities ans winning the first half of the fight, but getting too comfortable as the rounds go on and Montiel landing short effective punches over and around Donaire lower guard. I think it goes the distance with Donaire having to dig deep to get back in control of the fight after getting taken off his game for rounds 7-10 or so. I think donaire by decision 116-111 or something like that in a very fun to watch fight.
This fight is a MISMATCH! DONAIRE will KO an old MONTIEL in 5 rounds or less. I want donaire to step up and fight mares when mares wins the 122 tourny.
Since Floyd-Pac and Haye-Wlad look as unlikely as ever and Arum has decided to push JuanMa-Gamboa back a year, this is the best fight in boxing. Thankfully, this one seems like it's definitely going to happen. I think it's a genuine 50/50 fight. Donaire looked spectacular last night but Montiel has been beating quality opposition for the last few years. He showed against Hasegawa that he can find a way to beat a faster fighter and he has real power. I'm not really sure who takes it and I don't really care - as long as they fight, I'll be happy.
Hasegaewa was winning, but Montiel was picking it up before hurting him. I think if they fought againt Hasagawa might beat him, but Montiel gets a lot of credit not only for stopping him, but for traveling to Japan to do it.
There were only a few seconds left until the end of the round. Don't they teach people how to clinch in asia?:huh
