Forget the decision - who here feels Dirrell robbed himself?

i was wanting to throw a beer at the tv....the guy trained all these months to back peddle and jab...and youre right, when he did let his fists go at the end of the fight, i couldnt figure why he didnt do that early on....hes the challenger and in another country....i think he lost big time anyway, but WTF kind of game plan is that??

 

I think he did himself proud, never been in with a top10 fighter before gets in with a WBC champ in front of 10,000 jeering fans and beats him in most peoples cards. He should have thrown more leather and combos but you have to balance that with respecting your opponents power and not being stupid. If he ever gets a rematch he wins more emphatically knowing what he can do

 

He would stomp Froch in a rematch, no doubt.

 

Unfortunate it is.

 

Saying Hopkins was robbed is identical to saying Calzaghe did not win the fight.



I scored Saturday night's affair 7-4-1 in favour of Direll.

But he could have been much more convincing,

 

I look at this fight on rwo different levels.

First, I think Dirrells lack of experience showed up early and often in the fight. He relies to much on speed and athleticism, and not enough on boxing skill. For much of the fight I thought if Dirrell would stay in the pocket and counter punch he could take Froch out. However, Froch does not have much in the way of skill, and Dirrell does not have the defense to stay in the pocket with a more skilled fighter. Tighten up this kids defense and teach him to stay right on a guy while counter punching, and he will be a nightmare for most fighters to deal with.

Second, Team Dirrell should file a formal protest with the WBC, and say **** the tournament, we want an immediate rematch. Froch should have been disqualified, and that is not even debatable.

 

So..........Dirrell fans believe that boxing is falling down on canvas, holding, running, and complaining. OK, nexy time a Euro does that, they should award him the fight. Always remember, in a boxing match, do not fight, just run, hold, complain and fall down on canvas.

Perhaps, but he knew if he did that he also could have gotten knocked out. You have to take some chances in boxing.

 

Basically that's what cost him the fight.

Also punch the guy a lot more often, and more effectively than he punches you. That's really the thing here.

He could have, but I think Dirrell showed some tremendous skill and because of that he should have. His strategy with run, run, hit, run, run, grab, fall over.. was never going to win him a World Championship.

I think that if he believed in his own ability and learned some infighting skills - then he could have won rather easily. I am aware that Froch (on paper) would have liked this, but I actually think Dirrell has the reflexes to stop Carl if he believes in himself and gets dry behind the ears.
