Im not sure whether Martinez offers up enough resistance,he seems to fight too passively when he could be taking control and establishing more authority. The rounds he tends to win dont tend to be high contact rounds but more so rounds where he
has sporadically counter punched effectively,maybe that is hurting him with judges?

Pavlik is going to bring it we know that much.

I've gone back and forth on this one. SM is a terrible style match-up for an aggressor to score heavily on but can he outpoint KP while in that kind of danger for 10 or 12? I don't know about that. KP doesn't land like Paul. He has his feet planted and he wants to hurt you with everything, not score on you. Hurt you. KP is taking a real challenge and so is SM. Credit to these guys for making a good fight.

 

Yeah thats what im saying,Martinez style will frustrate Kelly and give him problems but does Martinez offer up enough resistance to shut the door on Pavlik, im not sure.

I felt Williams actually beat him and it was mainly because he was active throughout the whole fight and Martinez fight too much in spots.

 

Yeah, Martinez needs to improve his stamina, because Kelly is not going to let him off the hook if he gasses. I'm not sure if Kelly can apply relentless pressure for 12 full rounds if martinez can keep his legs throughout the fight, but he does have good enough stamina to make him pay if Sergio drops his hands and gets slow.

Martinez will probably make Kelly look pretty silly the first 3 rounds with his handspeed, southpaw stance, and footspeed. But it won't last. He's gonna have to dig deep and show a little something. I think he will.

Pavlik doesn't land like Williams? You might want to research some punch stats. PW came close to a career high of 33% over all against Martinez. 33% is about average for KP. Paul's connect rate tells us Sergio is not hard to hit. If ya ain't hard to hit, how long ya gonna last when Pavlik is on your ass making you fight every second of everyone round?
