Why are you attacking Jerome and Boo mis-read what he wrote!!atsch So your telling me that Martinez won't be able to hit KP with Left Bombs?
You probably know this, but Alexis was not always the master boxer he was in the latter half of his career. It wasn't until after he lost to Marcel that he started working on technique, et. Over the course of his career he went from scrawny slugger to one of the greatest boxer-punchers of all time. Pavlik would do well to study the hell out of Arguello.
Exactly. Style wise Pavlik is a great mach up for Martinez, a blind ****** can see that. He'll slip that jab many times and land that left.
This is what you get when the library lets just anyone use a damned computer hooked to the net.....:yep
Shouldn't you be busy watching Pavlik's great fights from the past few years? Like Gary Lockett? Espino? :rofl Rubio? Or you could watch him getting schooled by a 44 year old. He's been pretty much retired since beating Jermain Taylor.
After putting some thought into this fight, and after watching Pav vs. Miranda, Taylor 1, Pocket Rocket Locket , the Bhop fight, and the last 2 nobs, I feel that Pav will get the win. First and foremost, Martinez is the challenger. He will have to have the fight of his life, the stars will have to be all be aligned, and dish out a big convincing schooling. I do not see how Marty could do all that. Second, Pavs defense. He keeps his hands up. He steps back. He fights TALL. Third is Power. Marty has never felt this kind of power. Not even with Margos loaded gloves. Power is a big game changer. Lastly, Pavs body work. Old Marty wont be able to breath come the 8TH. Pav TKO 9.
Not to be a dick about this (as I can be at times) but I don't believe in that "the challenger has to beat the champ more convincingly" school of thought like a lot of people. It may not be so fan-friendly, but challenger or champ, the guy who gets the most points, whether aggressively or from a distance, is the one who should win. Second, I don't think pav is going to catch him cleanly as much as you may be anticipating. Sergio should be able to stay at a decent distance for the good part of 7 or 8 rounds at least, and Pav doesn't have that 1-punch power like a lot of you are implying. He hits hard. and he is steady, but he does more accumulation damage than anything, and I just don't see him accumlating too many flush punches on Martinez. Third, Pav's defense won't even come into play. Sergio won't be stalking him, initiating much action. He will be exploiting his handspeed advantage by catching Pav mid-combo, or right after he makes him miss.
The challenger has got to take the belts off of a champion. They need to beat them convincingly enough for the judges to give them the win. This is boxing. In order to do that Marty will have to engage in a fight. Thus, he will get hit. I never implied that Pav has 1 punch power. He uses his power and his stamina to work together to make it lights out. In Pav vs. Taylor 2, Pavs accumulation of punches showed in the 11 and 12. Marty is going to get hit more then Taylor cause he keeps his hands down. Thus a ko in the 9th. Marty does not have the power to keep pav off of him. And the only way defense wont come into play is if Marty doesnt throw punches. If you dont thow punches, you dont win.
