Ya -- the simple 1-2 is the traditional southpaw slayer, but I recently watched a lot of Martinez video, and I think the lead right/left uppercut may be more useful. Martinez rushes in a lot, and everytime he does the whole right side of his head is wide open. Let him come inside --and -- bang/bang.
Teddy :scaredas: NAh With the lead right Kp is to slow Martinez will see it a mile away and although he moves str8 back he'll be out of reach. and a lead left uppercut setts him up for a counter right hand from Martinez.
Martinez is the worst style matchup for Pavlik. He has fast hands and feet, hes a good counter puncher, and he has better stamina than Pavlik. He is more of a threat than PW. PW would atleast be in front of Pavlik most of the fight, Martinez will move all night, give angles all night, and beat Pavliks a** all nite.
Martinez is an easy style for Pavlik. He's a smaller guy with sub-par defense, and questionable stamina. He lacks true middleweight punching power and physical strength. He spends a great deal of time circling the wrong way. He rushes in with his face hanging out, and often backs up in straight lines without throwing punches, and he gets caught on the ropes repeatdly. Add all the up, and Pavlik should be at least a 5 to 1 favorite.
Which fight are you refering when you say he has sub-par defense? Granted, he doesnt have pbf type defense, but he slips punches well and turns with alot of the punches he takes. He is smaller, but his stamina is great. He circles the wrong way sometimes and he does keep his hands low, but thats his style and Pavlik is waaaayyyy too slow to take advantage of this. The thing with Pavlik is that he has one dimension, and if you take it away, he is lost. Hes going to come forward, try to land the jab (sometimes double it up) and try to land the big right hand. One thing I noticed about Pavlik, he has to have his feet set to deliver his power shots. Martinez constantly moves, and if Pavlik cant get set, he gets very frustrated. Thats what Bhop was saying when he told Pavlik to bend his knees and get off quicker. Martinez wont need "true middleweight" punching power to beat Pavlik because his plan will be to box and move and not get into a battle with the ohio native. I could be wrong and it could be a close, highly contested match, but I see another schooling coming Pavliks way. He always has a punchers chance though, ill give him that.
I wasn't talking about throwing a lead right from range, nor was I talking about a lead upper cut. I was talkng about allowing Martinez to bullrush, let him get inside, and then throw a short overhand right followed immediately by a left uppercut. The idea is not based purely on speculation. KP is viscous with that combo, and Sergio is a sitting duck for it.
well funny thing is is Martinez dosn'e do alot of side to side movement and doesn't give angles going in and out. matter a fact martinez goes str9 backalot which is a death sentence against KP just ask JT , cuz this fight will look just like that except fast and more brutal. thing is martinez will be washed and dryed. he gets a leg streching nap courtesy of a big right hand
but that is totally out of Kp nature. come on boo thats like mentioning Cheeze toast when were talking how you like your Pizza :-(. thing is people are also forgeting that Kp is a pretty good body puncher :hey
