Hatton is probably in my top 10 all-time favorite fighters. But people need to stop complaining about this. It wouldn't have made a difference, he was in with a better man and it showed.

I didn't have a problem with it at the time.....until the Hopkins-Calzaghe fight- which he ref'd by a COMPLETELY different set of rules to favor the home fighter.

It wouldn't have made a difference but it really was a terrible performance.

It was a bad performance for sure. Not one of his better evenings. Cortez seemed to let it go more as the fight went on, but in particular, the first 2-3 rounds were really horrible.

Bad night for Joe. I agree.

I've probably watched it 6 or 7 times. I love Ricky so much as a fighter I watch it every once in a while just for the atmosphere. Possibly the greatest ever display of fans travelling to back their man abroad.

Cortez could have reffed in a style that would have helped Ricky more, but end of the day he got outclassed.

I haven't seen this fight for a few years. Those elbows from Mayweather...

No Cortez just didn't let Hatton fight on the inside which left Hatton resorting to lunging in which is why he was walking into so much,I went over for the fight and believe me u will never see an army travel over the Atlantic to roar on there fighter, not only the fight but the days leading upto it

It was something special, no doubt about it. Ricky was class and hilarious as ever in the post-fight as well.

As I've said, not a good night for Cortez but wouldn't have made a difference who was the third man in the ring for my money.
