This content is protected 1. Who was who became evident quite early I thought. Fusari was a boxer and Pellone was a pressure fighter. Neither was effective in each of their attacks. Even. 2. Fusari's jab was terrible; slow and useless. Already the two were getting it on. Fusari was flurrying and abou half of the blows were registering. Fusari. 3. Fusari continued his flurries, and they grew more effective. Not only that, but Fusari's punches were strengthening as well. Pellone slipped launching a right, but actually landed a good right a short time later. Fusari. 4. Fusari kept up a consistently good attack, but Pellone's own attack was improving as well, starting to interrupt Fusari's lengthy, smooth flurries with left hooks. Some of the most furious action of the fight occurred near the end of the round when Fusari was shaken up a tad. Pellone. 5. Even. 6. Fusari kept Pellone at long range, landing jabs, straight hand punches, and some chopping uppercuts. This was when Fusari was at his best, when Pellone was kept at long range. Fusari. 7. Crisp, clean punching on both sides. Both were beginning to tire near the end. Fusari. 8. The effects of the scrap were now becoming apparent. The clinching was frequent, and the clinches were initiated by both of them. Fusari seemed the more exhausted of the two, yet remained the more effectual puncher. Even. 9. I got a kick out of the commentator and Joe Louis being playful before the round. The commentator asked about Joe, to which he replied: "I don't wanna take about me. Let's talk about the fight, and Pabst Blue Ribbon" and the commentator said in surprise, "Why Joseph, I didn't realize you cared!" Back to the action, both boys drew on all of their reserves. Pellone was doing good work downstairs, but Fusari hurt him a little while later, and pounded Pellone with right hands. Pellone then went down from a relentless volley. It didn't look like it was counted as a KD, but it was. Fusari. 10. Pellone stalled the final round. As soon as he got up, he grabbed the ropes, and kicked the canvas like a bored little boy. The round was cumbersome. Fusari, as opposed to the previous rounds where he boxed and even slugged in a tight, conserved manner, he now just beat Pellone one blow at a time. Both were in an awful state. Fusari's arms ached and were heavy. Each blow he threw looked like it was in slow motion. Pellone just helplessly staggered around the ring, and almost fell out of the ring. A final volley by Fusari dropped Pellone. Pellone beat it by a couple secs, but was in no condition to continue. Good call ref. Final score going into round 10: 4-1-4 for Fusari. Verdict: A really very good match. I was impressed early on, but after 5 rounds I was starting to wish for so more drama, yet it paid off and I witnessed the great finish that took place in the last two rounds. Terrific match. Watch it.
Fun fight to watch, and Joe Louis seemed to be angling for a job, even plugging Pabst Blue Ribbon. The ref was wise to stop it and could have a bit earlier. Thanks for posting.
