It's criminal that a fighter this good doesn't get a mention nowadays. This Argentinian cutie got the better of such fighters as Curtis Cokes, Jaime Gine, LC Morgan, Alfredo Urbina, Alfredo Bunetta, Santos Pereyra and held Nicolino Locche to a draw. And to tell the truth, he's more a natural featherweight than a natural lightweight. You'll see him here schooling Paolo Rosi, just as Rosi was coming off what many considered a win against Carlos Ortiz. Alvarez gets blatantly robbed imo despite putting on a great boxing display and making Rosi look somewhat geriatric. He starts off rather slow and looks like he'll probably be overrun by the end, but he hangs in there and does a paint job on Rosi later on. Alvarez has excellent spring in his legs, which is key to his defensive movements. He's also an excellent body puncher, something I particularly find appealing in boxer types. Alvarez didn't have a long prime, and had certain weaknesses too (tended to slap with the right hand, dentable chin etc.) but for a very short while he was a very good fighter. Is he worthy of the title boxing master? Well, you decide. Would love to see your cards for this fight by the way...
