    I don't know why people don't bring up that fight more often. I liked it very much. I understand that both fighters weren't in their prime yet her and Martinez was especially very green and made a horrible mistake of getting matched up with monster Margarito, but if you look at it purely from a perspective of a fight fan it's a great fight. It's a raw young version of Margarito when he was still fresh, motivated and relentless and walked through shots. He turned this fight into a pure street fight. Great display of will, heart and cardio by him and obviously the legendary iron chin. Martinez fought bravely as well but simply couldn't keep up with Margarito's pressure fighting.

    That was a good stoppage by the ref. He likely saved Sergio's career as he saved him from getting tortured by Margarito some more.

    Watch the replay of the series of punches that lead to the stoppage. He just didn't stop punching and that was at the end of the 7th round after a tiring slugfest.

    Reminds me Sanders/Klitschko because he never fought Margarito again and if the rematch would happen Margarito would do the same, of course, if rematch would happen straight after the loss.

    Martinez would never beat Triple G or Canelo because he had too many flaws in his defence even years after the loss to Margarito.

    Does anyone think Margo used cement wraps in this fight, or in any other pre-Cotto fight?

    LOL they look like teenagers in there compared to how they look now.

    Almost comical how the commentators were ignoring the flush punches Martinez was landing. lol. Margarito wore him down though. Good fight.
