Cracking thread, with most us now having more free time some suggestions for old fights to fill the days (or nights) is a good idea. Here's a couple that spring to mind that didn't last long but still stick in the memory. Wayne Alexander vs Paul Samuels - Two bangers with suspect chins that genuinely didn't like each other. This content is protected Julius Francis vs Pele Reid - Pele was being touted as the next British HW world champ.
One of our best fighters to never win a world title. If he was in his pomp just now I think he would have been a two weight world champion. I was at the Harrison v Brodie fight and their was only 3000 at it, with around 1000 of them coming down from Scotland. If that was now it would have sold 5 x more in Manchester.
McGuigan Vs pedroza 15 high paced rounds at a packed out loftus road, McGuigan beating the 19 title defence champion and one of the best featherweights of his era, Obviously there have been better fights but for the occasion the atmosphere and what it meant for him to win especially with the troubles at the time made this a classic.
If you can find it anywhere Kevin lueshing Vs Chris Edwards First fight was good but the rematch is a classic 3 rounds of pure action no defence all out slug fest!!!!
This is a real classic. Fidel Bassa v Dave McAuley 1 This content is protected Kings Hall, Belfast, 1987
Here's a good one, Junior Jones was a former elite world champ who had won world titles at 122, 126 and was the first guy to beat a certain Marco Antonio Barrera (won a rematch too) however he had a seriously dodgy chin and stamina issues and by 2000 he was still skilled with a huge right hand but fragile and one good good punch was all it took to shake him, a miniature Thomas Hearns was a good way to describe Jones. So here he is against Paul Ingle at MSG in 2000, can't remember who was the favourite here, Jones had the pedigree but Ingle was seen as young and on the rise, anyway Ingle never took a step back here and JJ showed he still had the class and experience : This content is protected
Interestingly I heard Nigel Travis say recently in an interview that Jamie Moore had to lose 23 ib in the last few days, to make weight for that fight.
