The forum likes to talk from time to time about "lost arts," "forgotten techniques," and the like. Most of the time, the arguments on both sides are pretty vague. Consider this thread an invitation to get specific. Which techniques have *you* -- or fighters you train / train with -- learned specifically from watching black and white film of 60s-or-earlier fighters? And when I say "learned," I mean "learned" well enough to actually apply them in amateur or professional competition against an opponent who was trying to win. So this isn't a thread for gym sparring stories, but actual competition anecdotes. Name em if you got em.
“Gohan Getit”, an old comedian friend of mine, taught me the old “wanker” punch. Somehow it has never been captured on film in the course of an actual boxing match. I know you said be specific but unfortunately it also can’t be described via mere words. Perhaps I’ll upload a visual demonstration sometime in the future. I’ve yet to apply it professionally. Basically it’s a fully loaded, ready to explode, one punch solution for any jerk offs you might encounter. Suffice to say, the “wanker” has never failed me.
