    Hit a ton. Several fights on Youtube for review. The magic late 50's, early 60's MW TV fights.
    Some say he beat Gene Fullmer for the MW title....and you have to give GFullmer credit for defending against him, compared to some of the "orchestrated" title bouts of today.

    I made the same claim as you only a week or so ago on the Hagler thread, but was shot down in flames. Gene Fullmer's resume from 1955-63 was incredible, t included his win over Fernandez who was an exception boxer.

    He was a devastating puncher. When great middleweight punchers are mentioned, it's a shame everyone forgets to mention Fernandez.
