I'd go with Big George! Too big, too strong. Louis was wobbled and dropped by much lesser men. But Foreman did lose to powder puncher but defensive wizard Jimmy Young, and Young even scored a knockdown - caused mostly by fatigue - like when GF was KD against Ali. Still, I'll take Foreman.:smoke :smoke

I can see Formeman geting an early round ko. He has a reach advantage over Louis, and was one of the hardest punchers in history. However I don't think Foreman was a very good "boxer". Louis would have been able to hit him. As the fight wore on Louis would take control. My pick is for Louis to win by ko in round 9.

Louis was champ 11 years, Foreman could only defend title twice. How the hell anyone even wants to compare the two is beyond me. As for those who go by size, then ok---Primo Canera, ko 1 over Joe Frazier and Foreman.

It wasn't just that Foreman was bigger than Louis. I agree with some of the posters comments that 15-20 pounds isn't a massive difference. I also don't argue with the fact that Louis could handle men with 40 pounds on him. However, those men weren't George Foreman. Foreman was MUCH stronger than an average 220 pound man, and it would take an incredible chin and/or excellent movement not to be crushed. Louis had a decent chin, but it wasn't spectacular. Certainly, George had more than enough power to hurt and even KO Louis. And Joe wasn't very fleet-footed, either. He was a skilled boxer, but there is no way he doesn't get tagged at some point. I see George getting hit with some nice counters early, but continuing to stalk forward, and gradually overwhelming Louis with his physical strength and power. Louis was a strong and tough 195-205(in his prime) pounder. Foreman was a massively powerful 220 pounder who definitely punched above his weight. I don't think many people will argue that Buddy Baer or Primo Carnera would have had much luck with George.

I understand the arguments in favor of Louis here (and there have been some good ones), however, I personally see George eventually demolishing Joe Louis. As good as he was, as fast as his hands were, I think George is too strong, too durable, and too aggressive. Even the greats meet their match.

This would be a bad style for Foreman. George liked his opponents to come to him, and he would simply counterpunch them. Joe was a boxer-puncher with a killer instinct and one-punch knockout power. George was bigger and stronger, but if he got hit by Joe, he could be in trouble. I think Joe would box and try to make George come to him. Joe was very accurate with his punches and this would spell Goerge's doom as he would get hurt and busted up trying to knock a guy out who had just as much punching power than him. I think George gets put down for good by the 5th round in a tough fight.
