Former Colombian MW Champ Rodrigo Valdez dies RIP Champ

Just wanted to bring Rodrigo's passing back to the top. You know, in reading the many responses to threads, most with good insight, I've often wondered if there should be a new category started: Gen X forum. Posters could start threads about fighters in the 80's and 90's which IMO I don't think fall under a "classic forum" category. Sort of a 'tweenie' forum. Just my limited $0.02

 

Actually, I like that idea jowcol...I'd rarely be visiting the "modern day" forum, I can tell you that...with the exception of just a few fighters of today, like Kovalev and Beterbiev, I'm just not interested.

 

I think the 80's well and truly fit. Guys like Hagler, SRL, Holmes, Spinks, Hearns, Gomez, Arguello and co. did huge things in the 80's.

I've always wondered if a forum dedicated to the times of Dempsey, Johnson, Greb, Benny Leonard and such earlier era's might be a worthwhile addition. Guys with not much footage who create vast amounts of debate and at times ridicule (of other posters views) particularly given there is not that much to go off visually.

I hope that more posts will be generated in this thread...Rodrigo Valdez deserves more than just a 2 page obit thread.

 

His first fight with Bennie Briscoe will always be the 1973 fight of the year for me. Not Foreman-Frazier. He was a beast.
