Vyrchys was 48 years old. As it was said, he suffered from depression and had money problems (his former business partners owed him large amount of money).

Vyrchys was HW contender and European champion in 00s. He lost razor-thin decision to Ruslan Chagaev in 2006 and was outpointed by JC Gomez in a WBC HW title eliminator in 2008. Vyrchys retired from boxing in 2009 and had some business in the agricultural sector.

    RIP Volodymyr Vyrchys.

That's terrible news, especially if he was driven to this by the dishonest dealings of people he trusted.

    Sad. Rest in Peace.

    I liked iron-chinned, hard-punching Virchis (Vyrchys).

I hoped he would be given a chance to win a world title, I thought he would beat some belt holders such as former WBO heavyweight titleholder Shannon Briggs.

That's terrible. I always followed his fights because I thought he could become a champion one day.

    Good fighter. Tragic end.

    Really sad news

He was a very good fighter and, as said, a hugely powerful man

''According to OBOZREVATEL sources, the boxer committed suicide. He has been depressed lately.

The first disturbing news appeared on Friday morning, when it became known that on Thursday, January 27, the former athlete left the house and did not return. It was reported that he was wearing a black tracksuit and dark shoes.

Later , the National Police confirmed the death of the athlete. The body of Virchis with a rope around his neck was found by one of the people of Kiev near the house on Raisa Okipnaya Street. Law enforcement officers recorded the death and sent the boxer's body for examination.'' :shakehead:

    RIP

    Very very sad.

I was led to believe he had issues with alcohol for many years.

People don't help. A guy like that who was very handy and a top notch athlete, we'd all want love to be in that position. struggling in depression. It doesn't matter what you achieve right now! It's how you feel!! Time to squash this new age ****!
