Very sad. I didn’t know who she was until I read the announcement of her passing yesterday. Checked her IG and she has a long post about how the doctors fumbled her illness. She’d been complaining of symptoms for a long time and hadn’t been taken seriously by the doctors who told her she was fine. Infuriating to read.
Unfortunately this is the way of the modern NHS; fobbing the patient off is the number one priority, and if you are a young person with possible symptoms of cancer then you are screwed. As cancer is quite rare at a young age, if you go to the doctor with possible symptoms of cancer they will look at the statistics and obey the algorithm, and tell you whatever symptoms you have are due to anything other than cancer, clinical judgement be damned.
