Former MW and LHW champ Reggie Johnson got sentenced to 12 years in prison. He was charged with fraud. There's a short article on it over at the scene. Yet another example of a former successfull pro fighter who can't cope with life after boxing... Sad story.
Just read the story - it seems like he got a pretty harsh punishment. 12 years for defrauding $100k? Unfortunately, former boxers who retire and live happily-ever-after seem to be the exception rather than the rule.
Damn sad to see him ending up like this. yesterday i watched his fight with Lamar Parks. Reggie was a good fighter with some good skills.
Suck's these fighters have to resort to these earning measures post boxing... (I don't know the story, Just overall)
sad story dont think he deserved 12 years for that, in some countries you wouldnt get 12 years in prison for killing someone
Most of the succesfull boxers have had a rough life before their carreer in the ring. Some of them fall into the pits of Hell again after their carreer. Boxing kept them out of the streets, and when there is no boxing anymoren they are back on the streets!! Imagine B-Hop in an armed robbery when he retires and sentenced to 5 years prsion again
I met Johnson about 3 years ago at the Prince Gym and he seemed like a good guy. Was talking about fighting at CW and his fights with RJJ and others.
