Things like this seem to happen regularly at unlicenced events, it's the same in MMA - my first semi-pro MMA fight was meant to against someone with similar experience(6 months training) but turned out he had boxed professionally for two years previously which they neglected to mention.... all you can do is go out and give it your best and it sounds like you did that!!
You can still fight like a pro in the amateurs, and you'll find mismatches like this don't occur, my brother who only had 6 fights (lost 2) was fighting in the national golden gloves tourney, and in the quarters he got a phone call by the ABA to tell him to pull out as the fella he was fighting was a gypo who'd had over 40 contests and had fought at international level..... so at least you get warned in the amateurs....
Really? Not saying I dont believe you mate, because I do, but I've never heard of the ABA telling someone to pull out - but I've been given warnings and tips from officials like in my first year, Id had 2 fights (minimum to be allowed in) won 1 lost 1, and in my class was a guy with 20 fights won 17,a guy with 30 won 20, and a guy with 5 won them all so I was asked by an official if I could make the next weight up which I did - only to fight someone unbeaten in 8 in a straight final. Great thing was though that I battered him for 3 rounds but wasnt given the desision - big uproar
tbh I didn't take the call just saying what I was told, I'll try and remember the young lads name that my bro was meant to be fighting....
Venusdiablo - Yeah, I know where your coming from. This was the worst show I've seen for mismatches. I'm having an unlicensed MMA fight in September. My trainer wasn't to blame as I did this as a favour for the prometer and was stabed in the back. I told him that he's a liar and a disgrace after the fight and he couldn't look me in the eye even though he thinks he's a gangster. Steve Wraith was the guy's name who set me up. You might have heard of him if your from Newcastle, he dug himself into a deeper hole of lies as I was asking him to explain himself. I was told I was against a 24 year old with no expierience but I was against an ex British K-1 champ who had 50 fights behind him. The guy was about 40 years old so it made me look like I'd been beat by an old man to my friends who came.
Unlucky for the loss mate, what matters is what you take from it and use it to develop. Does sound like you got stitched up though. Let us know when you're out next. :good
A mate of mine was to fight semi pro ("Class B" it was called) in MMA against someone else with similar training. the guy was a division above in weight and had already competed professionally.
I'm not trying to sound like a dick mate but why are you doing an unlicensed fight again? There a good chance this situation might happen again. Unlucky about your fight but i would be very careful about how much you trust the promoters of unlicensed fights. You literally can be thrown in with anyone of any experience, as you have already found out.
