first of all i would like to say andre ward is probably the hardest fighter to beat in boxing right now.

when i've watched him fight, nothing really sticks out. he fights each fight different depending on the strengths and weaknesses of the opponent.
what makes this easier for ward is that he has a very high boxing IQ coupled with the fact that this sonovagun is very versatile. he can fight inside, outside, he can counterpunch, press the fight, and fight going in any direction comfortably and not to mention he switches stances! WOW thats quite a package!

whats the best way to beat this guy?

i would say one would have to throw a calzaghe amount of punches (crazy workrate) have A+ stamina and really rough him up. throw that many punches that the least that happens is you win the round, break him down and if you catch him- you finish him off.
the guy who has this style imo is nathan cleverly who uses the same style as calzaghe. it would have been nice if he was really heavy handed as this would have helped.

i dont see andre ward getting beaten in a tactical match.

Like every othr fighter...dont allow him to get off first and dictate/control the fight.

    easier said than done though.

Somebody with an iron will, incredible reflexes and speed, in a different location than oakland. Dirrel but with a warrior mentality which he clearly lacks.

He's still only faced slow fighters and a weight drained dawson.

Guys historically in and around 168 that would have at least a very good chance.

Roy Jones, Nigel Benn, Bernard Hopkins, Gerald Mclellan, Joe Calzaghe, Chris Eubank, Robinson, Lamotta, Monzon, Archie Moore, Ezzard Charles, John Conteh, Dwight Quawi, Evander Holyfield, leon spinks.

    etc etc etc.

Ward has not faced any great variety of styles.

the other top guys in the division RIGHT NOW are the tough, warrior, hard punching but straight up and down guys.

    he's great against them.

How he does against elites with OTHER STYLES is yet to be seen.

Calzaghe could beat Andre Ward. The only SMW in the last 10-12 years, that i would fancy over S.o.G

Only SMW of the last 20 years i would favor over Ward is a '94-'96 Roy Jones jr.

    Everyone else loses. :deal

The second best 168lber in the world today Carl Froch tried that when he fought him in Atlantic City...How did that go for him again?:patsch:hi:

He should fight the winner of Pascal-Cloud. Pascal got at least for the first 4 rounds a chance and he's got a decent chin same with Cloud

I think it could be an iron chinned guy not scared to mix it up and maybe wear Ward down and just keep coming

like how Castillo fought Floyd, or Chavez fought Taylor and so on

just keep on coming regardless of what Ward does

in reality Froch lost 115 to 113 on 2 cards and had a slow start, he really turned the pressure on late, imagine if he fought 2 rounds just slightly harder or pressed a little more

i mean i woulda disagreed with the decision but you know what i mean

also whats to say a hard puncher with speed like a Bute couldnt catch him on the liver or on the chin and catch him cold

but at the moment i listed a bruiser or a one punch KO, i cant see anyone just flat out boxing him over 12 rounds and winning

Dont let him control the pace, put it on him for every second of every round.
