Forrest Griffin: "This is the end of the road for me.."

His success's were somewhat academic for me. Rampage didn't take him seriously. And i don't think Shogun did either. Griffin was very much a gatekeeper and didn't deserve all the accolades and praise he got. He as certainly capable but did nothing special at all.
Plus i cant stand his self deprecating humour. It's false. Iv met a few fans who have said quite bluntly he is/was an *******. Not that it makes much difference to me but the package that he sold his fans was based on a false premise.

Would probably help if you READ the sentence and then replied to what i wrote instead of infering something else. And no Shogun was NOT fully fit. That's why he had ACL surgery only a few months later.

Ricky hatton is in no way the Forrest Griffen of boxing, Ricky in his prime was supremely talented fast and relentless!
Nothing against Forrest but Ricky was a much much better boxer than Forrest was an mma fighter!

 

I don't see it. And i was comparing their popularity as blue collar fighters. Not their talent. Either way Rickys early competition was a joke.

Yeah most were shite but there's a few good win in there, I'm not a huge hatton fan btw just think he's severely under rated by most people these days!

Never been a fan but I do respect the hell out of him as hes done alot for MMA. Like to see go out with a big but winnable fight like another Bonnar fight.

 

Each to their own...I like the guy, his work ethic, his attitude...al miss him...

 

A third fight with Ortiz makes sense. Griffin realizes he peaked in 2008. He will never win the title back unless it's a fluke. If you look at most of his pre-fight interviews for the past year or so he rarely even says he is going to win a fight. He has lost his confidence.

 

True enough, he knows he has peaked and really doesn't want a fight with Jones anyhow, he doesn't want another Anderson type fight which really took away his value,confidence and soul all in a minute or 2.

A fight with Tito which he likely won't get ktfo again is more desirable for him.
